Since last week's open debate worked out so well, I've got another question for everyone to ponder:
WHO IS THE MVP OF THE BEARS AT THIS POINT IN THE SEASON?
#2 Noah Brier said . . .I think I'm going to surprise people but I've actually spent a lot of time thinking about this and my answer: John Tait.
1. He neutralized Simeon Rice and shut down Mike Rucker in the season's two biggest games.
2. The left side has been the focus of every major run for this team, which he's held together as Ruben Brown has continually missed time at left guard.
3. His move to left side enabled the Bears to save money on pursuing a high profile left tackle and instead acquire a terrific player like Fred Miller, stablizing the entirety of the offensive line.
4. You know who's not on the field? Quasim Mitchell. That's worth about 6-8 points a game.So I take Tait. But I also think terrific arguments can be made for Brad Maynard and Nathan Vasher.
And if we could just select "D-Line" - I'll take them.

#3 jeff said . . .Tait's a good answer. Hadn't really considered him. I think Brad's the easy answer. Anyone who has watched this team with any regularity has seen this guy perform week in and week out. While he probably won't make the Pro Bowl (since I'm assuming people vote for punters purely on rankings and he is 26th in average. However, in two other very telling categories he ranks second: Yards (2773, behind only Josh Bidwell of Tampa Bay) and Punts (67, behind only Andy Lee of San Francisco). He sets up the defense to play with a lot of field behind them almost every time he kicks the ball. I think he gets my vote.
Other guys worth considering: Urlacher (he's been all over the field this season), Vasher (BALLHAWK) and Tom Jones (without whom there would be 18 guys in the box ready to kill Orton).

#4 Max said . . .hey fellas! you wanna know why a team wins? of the last five weeks and the ten total defensive and special teams players of the week in the nfc - the bears have five.

#5 Lou said . . .I vote Olin Kruetz. Hes the leader of the O-line which has done an exceptional job. They have allowed a few sacks, but some of that is due to Orton holding onto the ball just a second or two longer than he should have. And TJ is having a great year. Not to mention both Benson and Peterson have filled in nicely when TJ was hurt. They can do that cause of the holes the line makes for them.
and besides, who else could break a teammates jaw and get away with it?December 1, 2005
#6 Noah Brier said . . .Hey Noah... Relax with the ( )'s. Too many. And if you're going to open one up, close it off.
Here's my contribution to the blog... Muhsin Muhammad.
I know it sounds stupid, but I love the guy. I think he gives the offense some sorely needed attitude, and an actual vertical threat that Orton can enjoy throwing to. Even if the pass isn't even close, it's a lot better than watching nothing but 4 yards outs. I also enjoy watching Noah throw the antlers up. It reminds me of when he used to be fat. I don't know why... but it does (insert something stupid here).
