That something bad is going to happen real soon?

I do.

I don't like it.

Go...Bears.

I blogged about the Bears fate at www.touchdown2006.com.
Stress about this year's team falling apart is normal. Look at history. After the Bears won their division in 2001 everyting fell apart the following season.
The similaritie between now and then: they won their division last year, lost their first playoff game at home (in which they gave up over 30 points to the Eagles, who, like the Panthers, went on to lose the NFC championship game). This year they're counting on Cedric Benson, a second-year running back, ala Anthony Thomas.
And Lovie Smith? He is still relatively early in his coaching tenure with the Bears and, like Dick Jauron, runs a Cover 2.

I think what I am most worried about is the receiving corps. Muhsin dropped way too many passes last year and other then a few brief flashes by Bradley before he got hurt everyone else looked like third/fourth stringers. With regard to TE, well do they even have one? I really would have liked to have seen Lelie brought in to counter MM. Hopefully we will see something in preseason where someone steps up, otherwise IMO the offense is once again doomed to be ranked 25 or lower.

I don't think the Lelie model receiver works in this system. He's a flier and the Bears need somebody who can run across the field and take a safety with them.

I like Berrian and Bradley and it just might be a matter of allowing them to develop in the system over the course of the year.

With Lelie, if the guy can't produce in Denver...can he produce anywhere?

Jeff, I don't disagree much. My primary for Lelie was built around a proven receiver at #2, which I think he is. The Bears have had many great possession receivers over the years and not kept them. Booker and Engram to name two. It always seems like we settle on one go-to receiver guy which allows teams to double and triple as needed to shut us down, or simply play one-one and throw 8 in the box. Look at St. Louis, Dallas or even NY - all have solid #1 & 2's. I don't think our receiving corps is going to scare anybody.

Booker, Engram, Conway...etc.

I think the problem in Chicago has been that since Erik Kramer (ugh) stopped playing quarterback here we can't find a constant arm to get the ball out there.

We've seen in Kansas City that you can win with Eddie Kennison and Johnny Morton at the wide receiver position.
