How Do You Think He Does It? (I Don't Know)

Monday, September 25, 2006 | Jeff

His name is Tommie. And make no mistake about it...he's the best player on the Chicago Bears.

There's a lot of performers we could talk about from yesterday. Mark Anderson continues to make an impact each and every time he hits the field. Moose caught everything. Robbie Gould's 49 yard field goal might have been the biggest play of the game.

We could even talk about Ron Turner, the offensive coordinator finding creative ways to cover for a non-existent running game.

We've talked about Rex Grossman enough. And we know about the middle linebacker.

Tommie Harris is the best player on the Chicago Bears. Because yesterday when the game was on the line, he exploited the best guard in football. Yesterday when the game was on the line, he put his hand on the football. Tommie said, "Here, Rex. Don't fuck up."

And Rex didn't fuck up. He answered the call of his All-Pro defensive tackle. I was resigned from my barstool to lose yesterday's game. Then Tommie ran over Steve Hutchinson and gave us back hope.

That's the sorta thing your best player does.

How about some love for the coverage and return units too. Hester didn't look good yesterday, but the special teams have been great all year so far. Davis's fake lateral, 35 yard return was huge. It set the offense up to answer the Viking's early score. Special teams can win games when everything else is going to pot -- just ask the Colts and Jags.

I love our entire D Line. Alex and Adewale, Ian, Tommie, Tank, Alfonso. Its been a long time since ive been this confident in this group. Especially the ends. No longer the days of Bryan Robinson and Philip Daniels. oh glory days

this defense is going to need to tackle better against the seahawks but there's no one in the middle of the seattle o-line that can handle tommie. i think we should be able to put a lot of pressure on matty.

Whatever, I know youse guys think Seattle is full of west coast wimps (somewhat true), but consider the Seahawks defense that is good as any out there. And Da Bearssss will also see a lot of new 4-receiver sets with the addition of Deion Banch. Don't be overconfident.

Tommie Freakin Harris!
The whole line should have 27 sacks between em if Seattle can't run the ball.
Send 'em.
Tackling needs to improve greatly though.
The view does look good from 3-0.

Alexander has been relatively ineffective this season and wouldn't get more than 30 or 40 yards against the Bears defense, anyway. Look for Holmgren to show the Bears some new looks - it's a challenge and opportunity for the Seahawks.

I like a little confidence, I like a little cockiness, but I never condone hyping up P-Nut Tillman. That's just not ok.

Agreed. The idiot has found a new way of sucking: hitting people late. Can someone seriously make a case for this moron starting over Ricky Manning?

Hey Sean:

All I'm saying (without the trash talk) is that it should be great contest against two great teams. Your misplaced overconfidence could backfire - this it not 1985. Do you remember how your 2005 season ended against Steve Smith and the Carolina Pussys? And that the following week, the same team that just burned the Bearssss (in your house, I might add) was destroyed by the Seahawks in the NFC title game. The Hawks we're the big underdog for that game, too - and it served us well.

I seriously doubt Seattle was a huge underdog in against Carolina last year. go to your own teams webboard.
