Since we're now staring week one and specifically the Packers in the face (6 days). I figured I'd invite any New Yorkers down to the bar Jeff and I frequent on game day:
Josie Woods
11 Waverly Place
New York, NY
It's got everything a Bears fan could want: Pool tables, beer, cheap wings and the Chicago Bears on the biggest TV in the place no matter how bad they play. Best of all, Packer fans tend to be in short supply.
Anyway, if anyone wants to give a shout out to their local watering hole, now's the time. If you're a Bears fan in New York City, come on down this Sunday or any sunday.
Go Bears! Fuck Brett Favre!

#4 max said . . .I am watching at my lake place in Northern Indiana, far away from anyone and anything.....frankly, I am not confident enough in the outcome to trust my potential reaction towards others. I have problems, period.
My concerns are simple and they all stem from the end of 2005. Do we all remember the runaway hype machine surrounding the Bears Defense from last year? Comparisions to the 2001 Ravens and the..umm, 1986 Bears? What happened...? They blew it, not only did they give up what looked like a lock for least points allowed, but they got drilled in the Playoff game. My point?....whenever the Bears get hyped up, they get full of themselves and they shit the bed. No team in recent memory has been this hyped up to start a season and I fear they will suffer the same fate early in the season. My other major concern is the coaching staff.....I wont focus any more on the Defense because that has already been touched on (Needless to say, Rivera needs to make up for his brain fart during the playoffs), but rather the offense, not the players, the game plan. Lovie likes to say "We are a running team, we come off the bus running"...Really? Is that why we came out against Carolina trying to look like the 1982 Chargers? If we are a running team (and we are) then run the damn ball down their throats, don't give me this fancy bullshit that is designed to make the staff look smart...run the ball, keep the defense freash and win in the 4th quarter, period.
START BEARING DOWN RIGHT NOW!!!!

#5 jeff said . . .I agree Brian with the exception of not breaking the record for least amount of points scored, that was all the second team defenses fault against the Vikes not the real bears D. The look on Urlacher and the rest of the first team D's faces on the sidelines showed that they werent happy about that and that they wanted to be out there for it.

#10 Carl said . . .Don't know Josie Woods but sounds like it's worth checking out. Whatever you do, DO NOT go to St. Mark's Ale House in the East Village. On New Year's Eve vs. the Packers, they refused to turn on the sound of the game because they were too intent on being a New Years Eve hotspot--these sell outs forgot that Bears fans pay their meal ticket. We even petitioned and collected 36 signatures asking for the sound...no deal. NEVER GO TO ST. MARK'S ALE HOUSE.
Instead, I recommend you guys join the NYC Bears group on meetup.com, that's where we get all our power in numbers. Like my favorite number 72, which conveniently is also my waistline.
Might as well check out our site -- www.DaSuperfans.com-- though you probably saw it last winter after reading about us/hearing us on NBC, AOL, Wall Street Journal, WGN TV and radio, etc.
Who's ready for opening day?!?!?!

Here at DaBearsBlog, you are free to kill us or the Bears as you so wish. You are not free, however, to be an asshole. So if you spew racism or ill-meaning foul language (cursing about football is just fine) or anything of that ilk, your comments ain't gonna last long, jerk.
