I think I'm afraid. Scratch that, I know I'm afraid. I'm afraid because the Packers are dead and I can see it...
First drive of the game.
3rd and 4.
Favre drops backs.
Throws...one of those throws we've seen a million times and re-played in our tortured hearts. It soars over the heads of our safeties as Charles Tillman lies on the ground, having fallen twice on the play.
Donald Driver. 76 yards. Touchdown.
And he's reborn. And another 7-9 flies into our windows and molests our children. And I step from my bar stool, walk to the back of Josie Woods and throw darts like I'm aiming at #4. But I can't hit him.
Or it could go well, right?
Win. Win. Win.
#2 max said . . .The demon Favre needs to be sent back to his fiery grave. Too long has he tormented Chicago with his stubbly beard. Buy a razor, retire and put us out of our misery.
This is the year to bludgeon the beast with a Harris/Ogunleye mace. A Mike Brown stake to the chest would work too.

#3 Brian said . . .No way Jeff. . . maybe Favre 3 years ago. . . but now, that same play, he either A) overthrows the receiver B) A saftey breaks it up because the pass isnt as accurate as it should be or C) Favre gets sacked because his receivers cant even school Charles Tillman

#4 Superbowl Bound said . . .My fear level for Farve is just about as Max described, he is average at best at this point. Where my real fear lies is with Ahman Green...he looks healthy again and he is normally a Bears Killer. When I close my eyes in fear it is not a 76 yard TD to Donald Driver, rather a dump screen to Ahman Green that catches us in over pursuit of the quarterback leaving nothing but wide open sideline for a Packers Touchdown. Be afraid, be very afraid.

#5 jeff said . . .I like to think about this scenario. It's 3rd and 18. Favre takes the snap. The Bears know its a pass and have Briggs and Brown coming on a blitz. Favre tries to avoid Tank and Brown only to find Briggs going 110 mph straight into his chest. The impact is loud enough to make even the staunchest of Packer fans to grimace in pain. Favre lies on the ground writhing in pain and the medical staff immediately run onto the field and there is a nice big group prayer for him at the 50 yard line while the Packer faithful are in tears knowing that their hero is now permanently gone from the NFL. Bye Brett, can't say I'll miss ya.

you know what'd be cool...favre throws the bomb td pass and rex comes out and counters with a 77 yard touchdown pass...i swear to god, i'd cry.

#7 Rob said . . .Just remember guys, the Packer have 2 rookie guards starting. That will hurt their running game i.e. A Green. And Favre may have his pocket collapse pretty quick. If T Harris, Tank, and Ian Scott don't get him then Wale and Brown will. I'm hoping for 3 picks for Favre and 5 sacks. Bears win by over 30 points. Realistically, it will be much closer.

#10 max said . . .Sounds like a Monday night game in 2001 at Champaign. Bears come out in their all-blues and Farve delivers on the first drive of the game for an 80 yard bomb up the far sideline. Yes, it was five years ago but is it me or do Tillman's coverage skills look eerily similar to the corner that was beat on that play? Walt Harris anyone?

#12 jeff said . . .I don't mind Greg Couch - but that article linked too has some stuff that bugs me.
He complains about the Bears not having enough sense of urgency in the preseason.
I believe the 85 team went 1-3 in the preseason, then lost 1 during the year. I'm sure if I look I can come up with dozens of examples why preseason doesn't matter much, and it's a very flawed argument.

#13 devisenhandel said . . .in today's nfl the preseason is about staying healthy and nothing else. i don't care about the stats or the record. i'd rather lose every game and not score an offensive touchdown than lose a single defensive starter for green bay.

There are a lot of companies trying to get me to sign up and trade through them, and a few programs with various strategies and the like, but I'm wondering if anyone kn

#19 said . . .A man is trying a very unusual way to propose to his girlfriend. He wants people to forward an email to as many people as possible and he hopes that it will eventually get to his girlfriend. Details here: http://www.proposal-to-mary.com
Here is what he wants people to send by email:
You could help me a lot to spread my proposal to Mary – it is important that it is distributed as widely as possible so that it eventually reaches Mary. If you would like to support my proposal to Mary, please send the following text by email to a lot of people :-)
------------- SNIP (email text end) ---------------
WHEN YOU RECEIVE THIS, PLEASE HELP TO DISTRIBUTE IT TO OTHER PEOPLE!
For a long time I have tried to find a special way to propose marriage to my girlfriend Mary, whom I know for five years now. I wanted it very special, romantic and memorable, something our grandchildren would still remember.
And here is my idea: I will send out the proposal to Mary to 50 complete strangers, people I don't know - hoping, that they will forward my proposal to as many people as possible, which in turn forward it etc. And some day, I hope, it will reach Mary, after it has travelled a very long way. I know, it will take a long time and I am quite nervous…
From the poem MY Mary will know immediately that the proposal is for her.
I have created a homepage ( http://www.proposal-to-mary.com ) where you can find the current status of my quest. You can use the homepage to check if the proposal has already reached Mary (in that case it is not necessary anymore to forward the mail).
Once the proposal has reached Mary, I will put a note on these pages. Also I will publish there how many people have read the proposal so that everybody can see how far it has spread and that it is getting closer to Mary.
And of course you will find there what I am waiting for most: Mary's answer! I can't tell you, how nervous I am… Will she accept my proposal? Will she like the unusual way how she got it, through the hands of thousands of messengers all over the world?
Please cross your fingers for me! And please - help me by sending the mail to as many people as possible, to help it spread, so that it eventually reaches Mary.
And here is my proposal:
Mary, please forgive me, as you know English is not my native language. And I am not a poet. But I mean it from my heart.
My angel,
Five years ago, I will always remember the day When fate made us meet, blissful Alaskan moments in May Earth spun around us and a journey began Love, warmth, happiness, enough the years to span.
The longer it lasts the more grows our bond And with 80 still - of you I will be fond Whatever happens, I will stay at your side Through good and bad, together let us stride
No second with you was ever wasted
You are the sweetest I have ever tasted
We have spent so many years - why not a life?
Mary, will you marry me - and become my wife?
Mary, if you have received that and have recognized me, then give me a sign so that I can continue with the romantic part of my proposal…
