Week 2 Matters

Wednesday, September 13, 2006 | Jeff

Lions at Bears.

It has that feeling again. That feeling I can only imagine it had way back when the Lions were a tough club. Before Wayne Fontes cried all over the Silverdome. Before Barry left. Before Marty M decided to take the wind in overtime. Before Joey Harrington.

There's a dogfight coming Sunday and the Bears MUST win. The game is in our house. This is our division. A win sinks the Lions into a two game hole in the division before they've had a chance to hit the snooze button.

It took till Wednesday but I'm over the Packer win now. I hope these Bears are too. 26-0 becomes a memory if they lose on Sunday. So don't lose. Do what you always do when you play the Lions...kick the shit out of their quarterback.

This is a big week for Bears football. I never thought the Vikes would pull out a victory at FedEx... We need to bury Detroit right from the start just like that Pack of cheeseheads.... If the offense can just stay focused like last week this victory shouldn't be a problem and then its on to Minnesota.... Prediction: 31-9 with 2 Defensive Touchdowns. GO BEARS!!

Is it just me or are the Bears the cheapest team in the NFL? Every other "super bowl contender" signed a key player in the last 3 months. Even when it meant bolstering an already solid position. Case and point Seahawks and Branch. Stallworth and the Eagles. Crap, even the fuckin Pack signed Robinson. Is Jerry concerned with the bottom line or something? Are there some mob shareholders at Halas I'm not aware of? Someone please fill me in on why one of the most valuable franchises inthe NFL is so fuckin cheap.

P.S. Bears 40- Lions 5

Bears vs. Pack under Wannie: 1-11
Bears vs. Pack under Jauron: 2-8

Somebody tell me why we had to put up with those guys for 11 years! 11 years!

Bears vs. Pack under Lovie: 4-1

Lovie was the first coach to reach 4 wins against the Pack this early in his Bears coaching career since Jack Pardee. Hell, most of the bloggers on this site weren't even born yet when Jack was coach, I reckon.

Pardon me for enjoying last sunday a couple more minutes.

I wonder how much Seattle is affected by loosing their stud guard, Hutchinson, to the Vikes. Similar to us loosing Kreutz? I would hurt and take a while to recover. We've seen it a few times already. I think Seattle missing linemen helped the lions look good last week.

If the Lions think all their offensive woes where self-imposed, I wonder how few points they will score if they have a couple Bears in their backfield on every play. Can I hear a zero?

Shut out number two.

Let the 85 comparisons begin.

Please don't let me down. I can't take another 11 years of crap.

Detroit looked half-way decent against Seattle AT HOME because Seattle is way overrated- Alexander fumbles the ball way too much, their O-line sucks and they really have no stand out recievers...Branch was good because Tom Brady was throwing to him..Hasselbeck is no Tom Brady(Receivers are only as good as their quarterback..I don't recall Jerry Rice playing for Chad Hutchinson) This is why I believe ALL of our receivers this year will improve vastly over last year because Orton is long gone and Grossman can throw mean bullets. With Berrian going deep..and Moose and Davis working the middle, that will leave Des Clark open...Damn I can't wait to fuck these lions up...Bears 21-3

I'm glad I picked up Desmond Clark on my fantasy team right after the draft. I ditto Jeff that he is going to have a great year. I predict a TD for him this weekend against the Detroit Kittens.

Love the optimism!
I've been a big Clark hater and it was only one game, not sold yet.
I hope he keeps it going and changes my mind I really do. I can forget and forgive the past quickly.
Agreed that Rex will bring out the best in these recievers and all will be good.
