I'm sticking by Rex Grossman this year through the mistakes. I'm laying my chips on Ron to get this thing done. For now, I'm concentrated on the one thing that matters as of this very second...
Killing Brad Johnson.
I know it sounds harsh but I consider anything except his murder in Soldier Field this Sunday to be a complete disappointment. I want my good friend David Haugh's headline in the Chicago Tribune on Monday morning to be A Very Brad Day for the Vikings.
To which, of course, Mariotti will write:
Johnson's Death Doesn't Cover Up Grossman's Flaws.
#2 Coxyyy said . . .Everyone shut up about Brian Griese. The guy in not the answer. After all those years of watching Bears football where our flaccid armed qbs threw 3 yard passes to the flat on 3rd and 12, I get a boner anytime a Bears qb throws it downfield (even though the completions recently have been to the DB). The fact that Grossman earlier in the year completed those balls opens up the run game, slants, screens, etc.
As for the D, I am beginning to get nervous about our front 4. Where has Tommie Harris been? Where are the sacks? We are still getting turnovers but we won't always be so lucky after letting the other team march downfield and then bail ourselves out with a pick on the one. Bend but not break is good and all but it won't work forever. We need the pressure up front like in the first 5 weeks.November 27, 2006

#6 Justin said . . .What a lame comment, Coxyyy. You obviously got your Bears knowledge from the school of Tribune suck-ups. Grossman won't throw screens, slants, hooks, flat passes.. because that would be "pussy". He says "F**k it.. I'm throwin' it deeeeep". Never mind that he has an inflated opinion of his arm strength (and ACCURACY).
Now, as far as Tommy Harris is concerned, he is the one getting the double-teams. How about one of the other D-linemen stepping up? Huh? Brady could have filed his nails while waiting for his 4th read to come free.

#7 jeff said . . .Somebody better get fired for this disaster of a game...I'm calling out all the coaches: Lovie, Rivera, Turner. I don't care if we only lost by 4...WHY THE HELL IS LOVIE KICKING A FIELD GOAL IN THE RED ZONE WHEN YOU ARE DOWN BY 7 AND THERE IS 3:31 LEFT TO PLAY..give me a freaking break..and what about growing some balls and going for it on 4th and less than an inch..how about not letting the opposing field goal kicker get a practice kick and call the TO earlier...and what about turner...this guy calls plays like he's playing Madden 07' - just bombing it down the field...and why the hell can Rivera not call a blitz..does this guy still believe are D-line is anything but average. Be creative for Christ's sake!! Call a blitz, run a stunt, rush in the cornerback, switch Tommie to tight end mid-cadence, SOMETHING!!!!!!!! FORCE BRADY INTO A QUICK DECISION! Every QB will look like grossman if you pressure him...

#8 Pat said . . .relax. we're 9-2. you know who else is 9-2 in the nfc? yeah...nobody. they are the best team in the nfc if you use that crazy old method of judgement...winning. but no, you're right. let's fire a coach because they've only lost two games....both out of conference.

I just tried to post the following which would explain the plagiarism comment- but it said it needed to be reviewed by the site first. never happened before.
Ted's comment was suspiciously similar to the post about Rex on kissmesuzy.blogspot. com --- check it out it's pretty damn funny.

Here at DaBearsBlog, you are free to kill us or the Bears as you so wish. You are not free, however, to be an asshole. So if you spew racism or ill-meaning foul language (cursing about football is just fine) or anything of that ilk, your comments ain't gonna last long, jerk.
