Enough Already

Monday, December 11, 2006 | Jeff

Just wondering if I missed some Bears games this season because apparently Al & John don't involve them in the Best Team in the Conference conversation.

Today was a great day for our Bears. Why?

1. Panthers lost and the possibility of Steve Smith in Soldier Field is becoming very, very remote.
2. Tonight was the kind of blowout that sends reporters right to you-know-who's locker. Implosion time!

Bears need to make a statement tomorrow night. Play hard and play fast. Win this one by twenty.

Addendum: I knew someone would write the "tonight is a mandate" column and sure enough Jay Mariotti did.

Addendum #2: Terrific article about Lovie Smith by a fellow named Michael Corcoran for a paper I've honestly never heard of called the American-Statesman. Nice piece.

I believe the worst thing that could happen Monday Night is that Rex has a great first half. It will guarantee that we will not be in the DA SUPERBOWL. It took many bad performances, to get him on the cusp of the first half Monday Night. A good outing would make Lovie Stick with him. It would be a death knell for the Bears, and Chicago. We all die a little with Da Bears defeat. Fris.

I so hate Dallas and the Parcells/Romo bandwagon. I truly enjoyed the smackdown. I look for New Orleans to be the new flavor of the month. Of course nobody likes their D (least of all the great Tony Staubach errr Romo), so the Bear could get back on the map of respectability with a nice win tomorrow. Of course if Rex plays like that Romo stiff, we are screwed.

Fuck Al & John, and everyone else who drops Da Bears from any discussion of "best in NFC", much less "best in NFL". ESPN had some segment last week about "best team in AFC/NFC" and they crowned Dallas in the NFC. Egg on their faces now, eh? Bears coulda whopped either teams ass tonight. It's easy for Brees and Bush to look great when Dallas's defense is nonexistent.

The Bears arent flashy, their roots are with the Defense and running the football -- this dosent get you a lot of "attention" in the NFL. Rex's performance has gotten everyone off the Bear bandwagon, but I don't see how you can look at this team and not include them in the "class of the NFC" discussion. People were talking about Dallas and Seatlle being the best teams in the NFC, well...look what happened to them.

I couldn't be happier that Dallas lost, it was about time Tony Romo comes down to earth and people realize this isnt Jesus reincarnate. It was his 7th start, how the hell can he get SO MUCH credit so soon? Well, maybe that will be put to rest after his very "Rex-Like" performance last night.

Also, I too am thrilled Carolina looks to be out of it -- I still have nightmares from what Steve Smith did to us last postseason.

Go BEARS!

The national media doesn't like to stick with one story all season. The Bears were the flavor of the month at the beginning of the season, now it was the Cowboys, I'm sure it will be the Saints. This way the Bears can play the "disrespect" card.

Matt - you hit it on the head. The Bears roots to winning are Defense first, then Special Teams, & then the O.

Marvin, you are on the money, let's get the inevitable over with.

There is not an entity in the universe that hates Dallas as I do but I do not think Romo was anywhere near as bad as Rex, no disrespect Matt. Dallas getting spanked is almost as good as a Bears win, I truly hate the living shit out of the 'boys'!

I see no team, bar none, including the Bolts, beating us if we put a compentent quarteback on the field. That is the task at hand.

God, I loves these Bears, I am confident that we will kick the living shit out of the Rams and make a much needed statement.

Go BEARS!

I hope all the talk about the Cowboys being the best team in the NFC will stop now. If the Saints rolled into soldier field they would be rolled and that why the Bears are the best team in the NFC.
