On Donner, Stop Blitzin'

Monday, December 25, 2006 | Jeff

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...a 13th Bears victory.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...2 more Mark Anderson sacks and a 13th Bears victory.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...3 terrific running backs, 2 more Mark Anderson sacks and a 13th Bears victory. (Adrian Peterson is also a hitter on special teams)

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...4 times the amount of Gabe Reid I ever want to see, 3 terrific running backs, 2 more Mark Anderson sacks and a 13th Bears victory. (Seriously, when did Gabe Reid become the focus?)

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...5 Gould Rings! 4 times the amount of Gabe Reid I ever want to see, 3 terrific running backs, 2 more Mark Anderson sacks and a 13th Bears victory.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...6 solid minutes of Brian Griese (looked good), 5 Gould Rings! 4 times the amount of Gabe Reid I ever want to see, 3 terrific running backs, 2 more Mark Anderson sacks and a 13th Bears victory.

On the seventh day of...okay, this getting fucking old...quick. Great game from Mark Anderson. Great game from Robbie Gould. And I know the blitzing EVERY SINGLE PLAY was incredibly unsuccessful but damn it was entertaining.

I think your song was creative...as a matter of fact I want to know what you got on the 8th day of Christmas?
Anyway, today's game was what we needed it to be..1) the bears won 2) no one was seriously injured 3) rex' confidence level should not have gone down and 4) we got quality snaps for Griese.
It was not pretty, but it accomplished all of our goals.

Merry Christmas to all....

Our D has looked bad. These past couple weeks and there have been times in the season where they werent to hot either. I am nervous.

p.s. Rashied is not a receiver who will be making alot of catches but i will tell you this, he makes big time plays when hes gets the ball thrown his way. 1 rec. 27 yds (on third and long). the man is a beast

Funny stuff, Jeff.

Uh, Gabe, I would expect a freakin' TIGHT END to be able to catch a pass in the flat out of the fullback position...

I loved Tim Ryan pointing out that the Bears are now in "screw around" mode on defense. They are trying new stuff to see what might work. Lovey was way disingenuous claiming they cared about the victory. My ass. But you know what, they won anyway -- not that they really cared.

Mark Anderson. He makes the Texans even sader. Not only did they pass on those QBs many thought looked pretty good enough to make the bigs, but their first overall guy has 10 less sacks than the Bears 56th round guy...and their guy plays every down. Ouch. Double Ouch.

Five.........
Goulden Rings!
He's back on track.
Mark Anderson! HA HA HA HA HA . Good by Ogunleye hello Anderson.
Rex has over 3000 yards and that has been fun to watch even with the ups and downs.
Needed more Benson, I don't understand why he doesn't get the carries and they skip to Peterson.
Merry Christmas!
Be Safe!
Go Bears!

It's a special week everyone. I'm not talking about sugarplums or dreidels or Times Square. I'm talking about the week where Soldier Field gets invaded by the Godless heathens from the north. If you think we can look beyond this week to the playoffs, think again. Lovie said his first priority would be to beat those we don't speak of. So instead of wearing your blinking Rudolph sweater or your funny hat on new year's, get out your "Kill Brett Favre" shirt and flush some cheese down the toilet.

It's Packers week, and I feel like it's Christmas Day.

Agree with you Brian - we got what we needed out of that game. Time for a ramble: Rex looked good enough to win in the playoffs, more great play calling from Turner (starting to wonder whether he had a mid-season slump along with Rex), defense proves that we have quality backups (aside from Hester - HE GONE is just HE BAD as cornerback), imagine Mark Freakin' Anderson if he had had the reps of a starter this year, The Gould Standard is back (and how critical could he be in a defensive struggle in the playoffs), do you get any better than Brad Maynard, loved the general game plan called by Lovie in all ways (hopefully soon to be richer and locked-up Lovie). Questions: Is HE GONE gone? What's happening to Devin on returns? Doesn't look the same confident kid the last two weeks. Just better defended? Did anyone buy into Tim Ryan's comments about the over-blitzing? (as in intentional by Lovie for other reasons than winning the game). When they settled back into Bears II at the end of the game they were fine. Will 54's hit at the end of the half be #1 on Jacked Up? Is JD Runnels now activated and can he play? (Jason McKee has been solid throughout) Is Adrian Peterson da bomb or what? Is there nothing he can't do? And was I the only one who was kinda happy that Griese was solid but not overly spectacular? (Don't want to mess with Rex's psyche right now - he seems in the right place, and congratulations Rex and your resurrection) Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah all, only one more r.s. game in this incredible season, and a home game against the Pack no less! Let the carnage begin!

Pat, Amen brother! Silliness aside, time to buckle down and get serious. The fudge-packers from up north tend to get under our skin no matter what. I hope the Bears stay sharp and focused for this game.
