A Day Away

Saturday, January 13, 2007 | Jeff

I had a dream last night that the Bears weren't playing the Seahawks tomorrow. They were playing the Lions. The Lions had a black kicker and the Bears had a 26-16 lead with ten minutes to go. Then I woke up.

Sometimes I wish I just made these things up but I don't. When my first play was produced I dreamt for a week about audiences throwing shit at me and vomiting in the aisles. Now - with the pain of the Panthers as fresh as Union Square produce - I find myself not only wanting a victory Sunday, but needing one.

I'm done analyzing and discussing. I can't find a single reason why the Bears should lose tomorrow and that scares the living shit out of me. Enjoy the game all. I hope to come back here late tomorrow night and find a wide range of reactions - hopefully the fuck-all-night arousal of the first playoff win since Hoover was in the White House.

Bear Down, Chicago Bears.

I'll be in front of my TV on sunday, dressed as Bill Swerski watching my Navy and Orange roll over the Seahawks enjoying every minute.

Let's stop stressing and enjoy the Bears.

It's a lot more fun that way.
This Sunday, we silence the critics, and get one step closer to that fucking ring.

Our team.
Our fucking time.

Simple as that.

Bear down.

Can't find one single reason why the Bears should lose?

Let me help:
Rex Grossman
Tommie Harris (out)
Mike Brown (out)
Shaun Alexander (in)
Jeremy Stevens (in)
*Pressure
Rex Grossman

*This may be the most significant issue for the Bears to contend with. Can they handle the pressure? Seahawks don't have any pressure to deal with this week. Bears carry all of it. Just think: If Bears can win this game, all demons will be exorcised. NFC Champ game will be at home and the confidence will be back and back in a big way. Neither NO or Philly will come to Chicago and win the NFC Champ game if the Bears can just find a way to get through this one. Lose, and it's just another in a long line of underachievers and disappointments. What's more important? To win? Or not to lose?
Ouch. Better get the hand lotion ready for the all night affair.
Good luck. Maybe next year.
Go Seahawks!

No fear.
No pressure.
No problem.
This is the first game on the way to three in a row. Our Bears will win this game. They simply must win it this time.
Everything comes together on Sunday. Coaches call a good game, the lines dominate, Rex is fine, and we run it down their throat for the Victory.
If you can't get pumped about this you must be dead.
GO BEARS!

I can think of many reasons why they will lose tomorrow. First, their QB sucks big time. Second, their defense has gone from nearly best to nearly worst. Those two alone should do it.

If the hawks don't take what is rightfully theirs tomorrow, then absolutely the winner of the Eagles-Saints game will roll right over the bears next week. Of course, it could snow in hell...

I don't know what to say other then GO BEARS.
Woman-hood still fully intact----
Golf ball through garden-hose...check
Catholic school-girl outfit (wearing the #54 Bears colored thong underneath of coarse) ironed, pressed and ready to go after Sunday's victory...check
Plenty of duct-tape for PIB's mouth, hands, legs and scrotum...check
Chair to duct-tape PIB to...check
Lots of syrup to pour over myself for Jeff, Midway, DS and all the other faithfuls as well...check
Okalee dokalee...I'm ready!

Look, I'm done trying to defend the offense. I'm done reading about our supposed has-been defense. I am completely done with the word delusional. The only way to shut these people up is to win. I have to admit I have enjoyed reading SOME of the Hawks' fans comments. A little friendly "we support our team and want to win" banter is always good to get the juices flowing.
I don't like personal attacks or the questioning of my sexual and womanly abilities as well as my more then pleasing physical appearance. There is no point. Besides, what kind of man would diss the only female or one of the only females here? Is it a man at all? Does it like getting laid? Does it like being an object of desire or repulsion? Why am I even writing this?

I have been amazed and exhilirated at the amount of extremely entertaining writings about football and the Bears this season. Jeff, your columns have kept me coming back for more. All of you have kept me very informed and I thank you for including me in your reindeer games. No matter what happens, I have really enjoyed this (with a few small exceptions). About Sunday's game, I am as nervous as when I had to put a urinary catheter in a Catholic Priest in nursing school. (that's saying a lot-being a recovering Catholic and not really believing that Priests even HAD one of those). Sunday's game will require us to keep our cool (Zen baby Zen). Here's to all the true football fans out there, who have defended their teams and sweated right along with their heros! Lift your glasses everyone!
The Bears can and will win this.

Tommorrow the Hawks and Bears take the Field at Soldier Filed 10:00am our time here in the pacific northwest, it will be very exciting and lots of nervousness for fans on either side, may the best team win.
I have faith in our Hawks! Go Hawks!!!
If the Bears do manage to win then they have earned!
However I am hoping the eagles show the NFL what a veteran team can do to New Orleans and as i type the eagle sjust got the first touchdown of the second half (21-13).
Anyways back to what I was saying....?....oh yeah, check me on this bloggers...
The NFL claims the NFC is weak and are expecting the dominating teams of the AFC to take the trophy home, I disagree with their hype for the AFC and believe the NFC is much stronger no matter who makes the superbowl between the Hawks (Go Hawks), Bears and the Eagles, for the AFC the claim comes from quicker domination the AFC top teams showed over their fellow weaker ones. The NFC (with the exception of the Bears), took longer to decide, i believe this took longer because there is more ballance in our conference. Therefore lets cheer our conference on no matter who makes it to the superbowl.
Deal?

Go Hawks!!!

It is time to kick some ass. Urlacher needs to knock Stevens into next month. I don't want to see any Seahawks hurt, but having their families gasp in horror after some snobber-lockers, well that would trim my tree.

The playoffs are a contest of manhood, pure and simple. Beat up your guy and don't let him interfere with your mission. The o-line needs to sharpen up their prison shanks, the d-line needs to run over some people, and everyone else needs to fly around like terriers in a rat pit.

I'll be bellowing at the top of my lungs with the rest of you. Bear down.

Looking good at the half. They have to keep letting Rex get them to the red zone and then letting TJ punch it in. Can't get too conservative at midfield. D-line needs to put some sack on Hasselbeck.

January 14, 2007

#20 Megan said . . .

We need more pressure on Hasselbeck! Need to tighten up the D and give Rex more time.

The Bears game plan was executed exactly as mapped out by the brilliant coaching staff. All x's & o's carried out on the field to a mathematical perfection and scientific exactness not seen in the NFL to date. They ran this playbook EXACTLY as planned.

See... we figured at the start of the game "if we can just sucker them into a sudden death playoff, let them have the ball first, we'll win fer sure". And they took the bait as planned.

Next up, that team from "the land of $hit shoveling" with that "stupid symbol". What the hell is that symbol anyway? I used to have them atop an iron fence on my property and I had to hacksaw them all off.

Parting at Midway's till dawn!

BEARS WIN!! As the one repeatedly accused of "sucking up to Hawks fans" I will open myself to same criticism again - great game Hawks, FC and VC, you guys were as good as you advertised, I'm ready to say already these teams were about the same. Plus I knew you'd be back after the game, and kudos to you 'cause I'm not sure I was ready to do the same - the unthinkable happened (i'm self-referring to previous post) and it was pretty much a straight up game with only a few big mistakes, and it came down to overtime and a 49 yard field goal. Congrats to you guys, great season and you proved why you were there last year. If anything you showed more nad this year, playing with less but playing with huge heart. Almost pulled it off.

Big disappointments in this game - and it speaks to where my head was for much of this game that I have to spend some time on the negative instead of just celebrating - O Line where were you? Rex has no time, even with 3 guys rushing. Horrible, horrible OLine game from a group that is supposed to be great. Dline, you did it when it counted but you've gotta be better, Brees has quick release. Lance Briggs, WHAT A STUD - you practically won us the game today. Chris Harris - NOOOOOOOO!!!!! Where's Todd Johnson? Todd, must get better this week! Ricky Manning, great pick, game changer.

Biggest heroes - REX GROSSMAN (no disagreements, right) ROBBIE GOULD way to earn that Pro Bowl dude - what a clutch kick and that ego enforcement will help us to win against that Saints next week. CEDRIC BENSON - Ced, I'm sorry about the coaching staff, I don't understand any more than you do why you can't get on the field, haven't you done enough dude? That last play, where you squirmed your way/fell forward for the extra 3 yards - that was HUGE!

VASHER and TILLMAN, I think you did your jobs, did what you needed to do. RASHIED FREAKIN DAVIS, you did it again!!!! (Great throw Rex)

MUST GET BETTER TO WIN NEXT WEEK GO BEARS THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR NOT RUINING MY YEAR NOW LET'S GO TO THE SUPERBOWL THANKS JEFF THANKS DABEARS BLOGGERS LOVE YOU ALL SEE YOU NEXT WEEK>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
