Wanna Be in the Tribune?

Thursday, January 18, 2007 | Jeff

Some folks over at the Trib want me to help find them some extreme tailgaters. If you're one of those people who gets to the Soldier Field parking lots at like 2 AM, smokes three joints and eats brats till you can't stand up - you're probably who they're looking for. It'd be a cool chance for you to get your name in the paper if nothing else.

Email me at dabears@dabearsblog.com and I'll pass your information along.

Poor taste indeed, we're not like the filthy New Yorkers who savaged the Saints when they were supposed to be playing a so called "home game" after they were relocated out of N.O. I hope we kick the shit out of them on Sunday but bringing up Katrina is just in poor taste.

Yeah, they had pretty damn good field position most of the game. We gotta lock that up before NO.

I've been saying since Monday, we need to shore up the field position issue, it was horrible against Seattle and if we give up that good of FP to N.O. thier explosive offense will score a bunch.

Devin needs to get his shit together. Field position is KEY.

I imagine Devin has been kept pretty busy this week. You can't blame him for having a hard time with all the pooch punts and directional punts they threw at him. Let's just say I'd rather see him play center field than shortstop.

I'm looking for some better play from Maynard too, sexiest Bear or not.

What is Maynard's deal, he's like a horrible post season punter?

Also Seattle gave Hester some weird kickoff/punt looks with the pooches and whatnot....I think Seattle and any team would be smart to do that. Also why cant he field a ball cleanly?? They say he practices like crazy, then practices some more and he still bobbles damn near every one!!

N.O. average starting field position better not be any better than own 30 for this game.

The reason why Hester is dropping the punts is because he is either thinking too much about it or running before he even has the ball secure.

DON"T THINK! JUST RUN!!!

GO BEARS!

There's no doubt that Hester mishandled punts - at the same time, Jeff you can comment real time if you're watching the game, he did impact the game, either with the directional punting, or, when he fielded cleanly, good returns that created field position. As much as he was roundly denigrated in the national press following the game, I think he had a major positive impact on the game. Also, who agrees with my earlier post about the relative pressure each team is facing in this game? as in, pressure is now squarely on the Saints shoulders. I think its going to have a big impact on Sunday's game - more for lack of pressure on Bears than added pressure on Saints. Anyone?

Pressure -- pressure means nothing, or at most, nearly nothing.

The Saints have more pressure, therefore they'll play poorly? Are you then saying that since the Bears had a lot of pressure to win a playoff game last week, they played poorly? They didn't. Sure there were areas we could have done better, but we played a solid game.

It's not pressure that matters, it's how you respond to it. Some teams respond well to pressure, others don't. Some teams can get psyched to play when there's less pressure, others get too relaxed and lose.

Attitude matters much more than pressure, and in that category the Bears simply WANT this win more than the Saints.
