I was pissed off yesterday. All day. And I woke up this morning pissed off.
2nd and 1. 2nd and 1 and Ron Turner says, "We knew if we got in that position we were going to take a shot." Did you? Did you, Ron? Had you not been watching the game? Had you not seen that your quarterback was completely overwhelmed by everything in front of him? How, in your infinite wisdom, can you say at that moment: WE'RE PUTTING THE GAME IN THIS KID'S HANDS.
For the second half of this season, Lovie and Ron have been on a mission to prove this kid can hold his own with the big boys. Guess what? He can't. Atleast not yet.
I don't wanna hear any of this Lovie Smith bullshit about this being a "running football team" next year because in the biggest moments of the biggest games, this coaching staff abandons the run. You were five points down in a game you had no business being five points down in. A first down in that situation gives your defense an additional five minutes rest. Two first downs gives you three points and puts Peyton Manning in the fourth quarter position of HAVING TO SCORE POINTS.
Instead you took a shot. You made the formal decision as a coaching staff to put the game in the hands of the worst player on the field Sunday. Say it out loud, Ron. "I made the decision to put the game in the hands of the worst player on the field Sunday." Now answer this: how do you still have a job?
#2 Fred said . . .That was the perfect time to take a shot downfield. That is the foundation of a running team. Taking shots in the passing game on 2nd and short.
The stupidity comes in, when you motion your RB out of the backfield, completely eliminating the possibility of run to the defense.
PA pass would have been the best call there. The Bears were never going to win that game, picking up 10 yards, 3 downs at a time with the running game. THAT is why we couldn't keep the ball in the first half, because the running game failed to pick up short distances.

#3 flo said . . .What to do with Ron Turner?
Nobody wants to hire him as a head coach, offensive coach, ass-wiping coach, toenail clipper, towel boy, plunger keeper, you know what I mean.
Throw on first down all the time. Run in third and long. Empty backfield?...
Ron's gotta go......February 11, 2007
#4 Shaq said . . .Fake the hand off throw it to the tight end. Didn't the Bears invent that play? There's a time and a place for the long one. Like when there's blown coverages and stuff..

As stated previously, the only reason anyone should have thrown the ball 25+ yards down field is because of blown coverage. That was the only time a ball was caught at that distance, every other pass play was well defensed as the ball hit all those rain drops/wind and sat up there like a duck. The pass to Wayne was underthrown, but since he was wide open it didn't matter.
I was very excited when we got Turner back. I thought he was going to bring some of the magic we had when he was here before...I was wrong. This year has been good AT TIMES, but we need a consistently good OC, just as we need a consistently good QB. If Grossman ends up being consistently great, I'm glad we stuck with him, if not, I will call for Griese. It's not a hard decision to make once the data is in...
