Hey Midway, let's feel good tonight. First off I should say to all of you that I - as a Jersey guy - am a newcomer to NASCAR (along with Noah) and it is one of the most thrilling discoveries of my life. It is a terrific sport and I recommend it to everyone. Just don't pick Kasey "I only crash" Kahne as your favorite driver.
The Bears are doing some wonderful things this weekend. They signed Anthony Adams to a four-year deal. He's 26 and he's not great but he'll provide a terrific compliment to Tommie Harris for the next couple years. He's also not getting reamed in jail - which is a bonus for Bears defensive tackles.
The Bears didn't stop there! According to ESPN...
In other news, safety Tyrone Carter, who played for the Steelers the last three seasons, has signed a free-agent contract with the Bears, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton. It's a three-year deal worth $2.4 million, including a $280,000 signing bonus. The Bears also re-signed guard Ruben Brown to a one-year deal for $2.2 million.
The Brown re-signing is a damn good one. Ruben had a very nice year and he's got at least one more in the tank. I don't know much about Tyrone Carter but it does show that the team is focused on addressing NEEDS, safety being less of one with Tycar and Arch joining the fray.
Based on this stuff, look for Jerry and company to go offense heavy in the draft.
#2 Hester 4 President said . . .Yeah I just read this news too... It's comforting to see the team adding depth at these need positions, and like you, it's got me excited because they're putting themselves in position to really go BPA in the draft.

#3 beardown1982 said . . .Yep, I'm much happier than I was when the team traded away Jones a few weeks back.
Then, I was upset, but now, I just hope Benson will be a good starter.
But since the move to get Arch, I've been very happy and excited. Now seeing they signed Adams, Brown, and Carter makes me even happier.
The only two things I hope for now are a good draft (with some offense) and I'm hoping maybe they will still bring back Scott.

#5 Al in WI said . . .beardown1982, it may mean just that. Apparently, Archuleta believes that he is the starting SS (see here). I'm not happy about that...

#6 Jay Mizz said . . .I don't think these moves spell the end for Mike Brown. Carter is a special teamer type guy. And many reports have had Brown moving to Free Safety.
This is all good news though, as it seems that the Bears are moving forward, and that should help lift everyone's spirits. I'm also pumped about the draft, and adding playmakers.March 26, 2007

#8 Hester 4 President said . . .AA will become the Hunter H of the secondary, meaing he'll be there on first down (unless its 1st and 20) and then somebody who can back peddle will replace him in passing situations. Brown, if healthy, will play every down.

#9 JB said . . .Just on ESPN, they took the Carter thing out and it said that he re-signed with the Steelers.
Not sure if they signed him or not now.
Also, ESPN says that Scott will leave and an Atlanta newspaper said he would re-sign with the Bears as early as today.

#10 Reverenddave said . . .The Adams signing is exciting and he is an upgrade for our system from either Boone or Scott. Adams may not be a household name, but he was drafted in the second round, has a lot of experience in his first 4 years, he's young, and from his description sounds like he will excel with us. So, welcome aboard to the another AA.
The Brown signing was crucial but I think predictable. This of course doesn't change the need to draft OL in a few weeks...let's give Garza someone to compete with. If I see him beat by one more spin move, I may vomit.
Anyone else excited for the draft?

#11 craig said . . .ESPN is reporting we open against the Chargers. That should be quite an interesting way to start the season.

#12 JB said . . .Work from Fox Sports (see here) is that the Redskins are trying to trade for Briggs. The deal would send Briggs and the 31st pick to Washington in exchange for the 6th overall pick. No word yet from the Bears camp...

#13 Hester 4 President said . . .Done and done. Seriously, the 6th pick! We could trade down and get Olsen and an additional pick. We could make a play for Calvin Johnson (HELLO!!). I will be smiling ear to ear if this deal goes through. Seriously, this would put us in great position to get one or more serious playmakers on offense.

#14 NacefeceCatty said . . .Personally, I'd work more out of the Redskins. Before it was reported two first rounders, one possibly next season. Let's get as much out of him if we have to let him go.
