Tank goes to jail

Friday, March 16, 2007 | Max

Tank Johnson was sentenced to 120 days in prison. I guess this puts him out until sometime in July. I don't even know what to say about this . . . I mean, he deserves it. And he should be back by preseason. So, I guess I am happy. As long as Tank doesn't turn out like Jamal Lewis and come out of jail alot worse than when he went in.

RASHIED

Seriously only you would wedge in a Rashied reference when discussing Tank's imminent prison sentence.

As to Jamal, he was the bitch in jail. Tank makes people his bitch.

Since when did Max start writing the lead blogs. Get over the Rashied deal too, he's up and coming but he's like a third or fourth reciever. Maybe the jail time will straighten Tank up, 4 months for him to think about it anyway. Maybe he'll just sit in there and lift weights and get huge, hell, what else has he got to do. No guns to clean or pot to smoke, might as well bulk up. And did you see his sunglasses as he was leaving court.......yeah, nice. Now just in case, this further proves my argument that we need to draft a DT.

With good behavior he'll be out mid May.

Is it weird to be glad to see this in the news today? It got my mind off of Briggs and we now know that Tank will be out of jail with plenty of time before next season.

This is what passes as good news in this All-Negative-All-The-Time off season. Our guy going to jail is good news! The next good news will apparently be when the NFL decides to suspend him for only 4 games.

I read an anonymous comment from a Titans player who said the following quote about his team:

"You don't want to get stuck in a rut, with the rest of the NFL world passing you by. But right now, it seems like we're standing still. We've got some work to do."

That referring to the Titans organization who appears in worse off-season straits than the Bears. But can't you imagine some Bears saying the same thing? What is the brain trust doing right now? Are they going switch gears on Ian Scott now and try to sign him? Are they doing anything, anywhere?

Been holding my breath for some positive news, and turned blue a few hundred hours ago. Mr. Wizard, help!!!!!

I wonder if Briggs is even more pissed off now that Tank is stealing his thunder again.

I only write when things have happened and Jeff hadn't gotten to it yet. I don't do it often, (Jeff doesn't really need my help) but i thought this was important. And POed, I have made several posts before the start of this year, so i don't know, I have had 7 or 8 months of being allowed to write leads?? something like that.

And ya know what, if you guys dont like Rashied, then dont pay attention to my shout out to him every time. I know he may not be the best receiver on the team, but he's my guy and I like to do it.

Tank Johnson is getting what he deserves. He will probably have to sit out 2 to 4 regular season games. I personnally feel that Tank is a bit overated. Unfortunately for the Bears, they are now hurting for depth at the D-Line with Scott and Boone likely gone. Keeping Tank is a necessity at this point. Hopefully, Tommie Harris can return to form to soften the impact of less depth at the position.

Although this offseason seems a bit shaky up to this point, the draft is coming soon. Although it is is unclear what the Bears could do with Briggs and their 31st and 37th picks, Angelo has done well with his picks and trades to this point - the trip to the Superbowl supports it. Plus, the Bears still have a lot of cap room. So, draft day should give us a better idea of where the team is headed.

Well... as my grandpa used to say when someone shot someone else on the news: "that $hit don't ever happen at the library".

So will Tank "Con" Johnson get a suspension on top of all this?

PS - the prison is just down the street from this rehab facility.
