GREG OLSEN
The knock on Olsen is his strength and blocking ability but the Bears won't need him to do those things. With Clark and Gilmore being terrific blockers, the Bears will ask Olsen to be a threat down the middle of the field. The kid is a statue and he's also fast as shit. While everyone else was talking about the Bears need at WR (something Pissed Off and I certainly don't agree with) the Bears strengthened the passing game by adding the player I think will be the most valuable pass catcher in the draft outside Calvin Johnson.
GARRETT WOLFE
Like taking a hometown boy. The Bears needed to get a third body at the running back position and they did so by adding a guy with good speed and elusiveness as a compliment to downhill Cedric Benson. This season is about Grossman's progress and Benson's ability to shoulder the burden of thirty touches a game. If Benson goes down, look for Wolfe to play a major role.
DAN BAZUIN and MICHAEL OKWO
I couldn't know less about these two guys. Hope they pan out.
As for today, my good friends...
The Bears have five picks. Will they find a Mark Anderson? I doubt it. If I was Jerry Angelo, I'd draft the top offensive lineman on my board with every pick. If one pans out, you've had a great day two.

#3 Starbuck said . . .The Bears did what a lot of us predicted -- took the best player/playmaker available; luckily, it was a guy who is supposed to catch the ball. If Olsen pans out this could be huge. The North teams play cover-2 and when you send a TE who runs the 40 in 4.5 down the seam all sorts of beautiful things start happening.
The DE taken raises all sorts of questions: Is Ogun or A Brown on the way out? Will that open up cap space to re-sign Briggs? Will Lovie ever say, "and we'll leave it at that." again? Will Grossman learn to tackle DB's? Will Turner have a sandbox and a stick installed in the coaches box?
What an off-season!

My overall grade for day 1: "B"

#6 Ted in IA said . . .My opinion on yesterday...
Olsen - Great pick. Every weapon we can give Rex is good, and he can develop his blocking ability with Clark, who's pretty good in that area.
Bazuin - I really don't understand this pick. We've got two excellent every down DEs, one of the best pass rushers in the league with three years left on his contract, and a pretty good back-up in Izzy. So why get another one? I've heard some talk that we might convert him to an LB.
Okwo - I like this pick. I'm a Domer (subway alum, heap on the abuse), and I remember when he played against us. He's a hell of a ball hawk. Not great in coverage, but he hits like a bull.
Wolfe - Another pick I like. I have a cousin who attends NIU, and I got to see the OSU game. Wolfe was incredible. He had moments where he looked like Barry Sanders, and the talent level surrounding him was, to put it kindly, negligible. His second gear is a hell of a thing to see, and he's got that acceleration where he just slides into another gear and takes off.

#7 craig said . . .I have to give JA credit for being willing to deal with the slimeball Rosenhaus, in order to try to get Olsen into camp. Anybody care to bet on when that will be? I predict he won't sign before the end of training camp (sure hope I am wrong).
