1. Tank Johnson is most likely going to be suspended between six and eight games according to David Haugh, the official beat writer of DaBearsBlog. And you know what? That's not a bad thing. Bringing in a fresh Tank Johnson at mid-season should provide the defense with a spark - a necessary spark for a defense that's shown the tendency to tire and weaken as the season progresses.

2. I don't care how many guns were in that house, I find Tank Johnson's behavior far less morally reprehensible than Michael Vick's dogfighting. For every Steve Patterson Sun-Times crap piece, there's a brilliantly revelatory (and in this cas nauseating) piece like this one from George Dohrmann from Sports Illustrated. I don't know who is editing the Best Sportswriting of the Year book but this piece has to be considered.

3. My brother's right: the reason Trent Green hasn't been traded to Miami yet is because Carl is a smart GM in Kansas City and he's waiting to see how this Vick thing plays out. The last thing Bobby Petrino wants is to try and run his offense with Joey Harrington.

4. ESPN may be smartening up. They fired Joe Theismann. They replaced him with Jaws. And they've found a way to get Bill Parcells and Keyshawn Johnson on the same television screen. (Second prize in the broadcasting offseason goes to NBC for adding Keith Olbermann to the Sunday night lineup).

5. If you're an out of town Bears fan, we're targeting the December 2nd game against the Giants for our annual trip into the city. Big party at Rossi's on North State that Saturday night. Get tickets. More to come.

I'll bring the brauts! There's this great place near Lambeau...wait a minute.

You've unmasked me! I indeed am a Bears fan relocated to the hated north.

I ask one thing of my bears team this year: grind Brett Farve's face into the C at soldier field. :)

I predict that Tank will get 7 games. (of course that's my prediction on a stomach full of 162 Slim Jims).

Hell, having a Defensive player in the clink for a few assault weapons is nothing compaired to the bull$hit that goes on anyway.

So, I am with Jeff- let's be optimistic. In fact, if it is 7 games he will be back in time to crush the Lions, then he can kick back and chow a few more Slim Jim's and enjoy a bye-week. Then he will be back in time to rock through November (the sweet spot of the schedule).

Trick is to be in game shape. So I wonder if you are suspended from games, can you still work out with the team?

Pretty good article for the bored...

I think Garrett Wolfe will be a great 3rd down back. In the article it says something about a draw play. I can only remember the Bears running one draw play all season...3rd and 22 ring a bell?

And, in an effort to make every post about Rex Grossman, I'll go ahead and mention that even though I've tried to fantasize about it (in a previous thread nonetheless), I still can't really picture Grossman performing the roll of fake hand-offs to Hester or selling the draw play to Wolfe. I think Rex is a pure passer, straight up. Perhaps this is why Jeff wasn't keen on the idea of moving Hester to offense? Don't know (nor will I claim to, since Jeff hates that), but I think I would understand that argument.

I would really like to make the trip to see a game. Thanks for giving me an excuse. I haven't been to a game in probably 6 years or so. Maybe 7. My god. Robert Smith ran for a TD against us, that's how long ago it was. One of the few players about whom I could say "damn, I have a lot of respect for that man, even if he whips our ass".

On topic - it doesn't matter how many games Tank gets, he'll be there for the playoffs (if they suspended him for the season I might have to go to Chicago just to start a riot), and that's all that matters.

Also, I think Tank would not be allowed on the practice field, but could work out? Not sure on that though. It's hard to find the actual policy, but sorting through various articles about Chris Henry and other Bengals that's what it appears to me...but maybe it's a case by case thing?

Well, I guess this settles it then. He can do individual workouts.
