I know I'm late on this...been crazy of late...but I wated to congratulate Jerry Angelo on signing his free agents this offseason. Greg Olsen wasn't just the first top round pick to sign...he was the first top two round pick to sign.
Good work. Bring on camp.
#2 Pissed Off said . . .Great News!! Hopefully we can build some positive momentum heading into camp with Olsen, and Vasher signing and mabey a couple of others.

#3 JB said . . .Its a big sigh of relief after what we saw with Benson. I'm glad Olsen is into football and maybe a little less concerned than others about the money. He knows he gonna make mad money throughout his career and he just wanted to get into camp and focus just on football. Congrats.

#4 Megan said . . .I think Olsen is a gym rat...or whatever the equivalent is in football. Anyone know where I can buy a #82 jersey? Besides signing the Chippewa, do we think JA will do anything else? Is anyone under the impression we will get Peanut signed to an extension? B-Twice? I think there is a good chance for Peanut, but next offseason will be for Berrian, Rex, and Tommie. A little more work for JA, then go take a vacation.

#5 Al In WI said . . .It's good to see that our newbie (Olsen), even though he has whats-his-name as an agent is signed and ready to go. I really don't want any more drama before camp even starts. Heck, I don't want any more drama for camp, season or post-season. Except for the good kind of drama that comes with going to the Super Bowl. I'm easy that way (don't let that get around, okay?).

#6 Megan said . . .Jb, from what I've read things look promising for getting a deal done with Tilman before camp. But the others are up in the air. A story showed up today on the Tribune site that Brigg's agent has showed up looking for a comprimise there too. So things are definetly looking up.

#7 Bearfan34 said . . .Briggs. Yeah, I heard about that. If he does end up signing with us, he's gonna have to prove himself to me all over again. I don't trust that guy as far as I can throw him. I know the NFL is a business, but would you want to hire a guy that bad-mouthed you, demands more money and whines? Or would you want to take your chances with others who WANT to be there? Is that just nieve of me? Or idealistic? I think that a true team needs to have people that want to be there and perform, no matter what type of business you have.

#8 Midway Monster said . . .Huge props to our front office. Signing everybody but one draft pick by training camp, now that's impressive!
We even signed Vasher, and it's looking as if the Tillman deal is still a possibility. Next on the agenda, Briggs! I think Lance is a great LB, but it hurts as a fan to see him willing to sit out ten games! Why can't he realize he has a great team, and this could be the year, but it's always about money!
I'm heading to camp on the 28th!
As always,

Can't wait, it will be here before we know it! I hate starting the season off at SD though, thanks NFL!
We'll be alright, if we can go into SD and get a win, watch out!

I agree with all that it hurts that Briggs says he'll sit out ten games but I'm not going to let hurt feelings get in the way of the recognition that he's a good player. If they can come to a reasonable deal then let's get him into camp. The fact that most of the Bears players quoted (including #54) have been in favor of his position shows me that he's not being unreasonable by today's NFL standards. Ditka et al talking so much about players getting jipped out of disability payments makes me a bit sympathetic, in fact. Nevertheless, I think pragmatism should rule the day here and the pragmatic stance is that getting a Briggs deal done and having him in camp is a good thing, regardless of his previous threats.

Here at DaBearsBlog, you are free to kill us or the Bears as you so wish. You are not free, however, to be an asshole. So if you spew racism or ill-meaning foul language (cursing about football is just fine) or anything of that ilk, your comments ain't gonna last long, jerk.
