First off, yours truly continues his rampage through the radio world. Yesterday I was surprised to find myself on MVN radio. Here's the link to the interview.
Nobody get damn hurt. Other than that, I could care less what the hell happens tonight. Nobody get damn hurt.
Also, don't be surprised to see the Bears pull a Dusty D with second-round pick Dan Bazuin and throw him on IR for his rookie season. The Bears use IR like a red shirt and Bazuin has been nagged by a knee injury the entire preseason.
Tomorrow I'll predict what's going to happen in the National Football League over the next six months. Was half right on my Ravens/Bears Super bowl prediction of a year ago. What surprises do I have in store for 2007?
#2 Pissed Off said . . .yeah, bazuin is a luxury to us right now anyways. I'd agree with Jeff...just get out unscathed...it's the Browns in preseason, how unimportant can a single game be?
Maybe Brady Quinn's girlfriend will get some exposure time like she did at Notre Dame

#3 Phil from SATX said . . .If everyone stays healthy that will be great. Leave the injuries for games that count. I dont really have the time to break down every NFL game and predict them all but I will say there will be a Bears/Patriots Super Bowl. Way to go out on a limb with that prediction right?

#4 Phillip said . . .How cool is it to be at the dawning of the 2007/2008 football season and have absolutely no doubt in your mind that your team will not only be playing in the 2008 portion of the season but be playing in the 19th game as well? I'll answer that - very cool. No one else in the entire NFL can possibly have the confidence that a Bears fan has right now - the only ones close can be Patriots fans and Colts fans, but each has the other to worry about as it pertains to getting to the Big Game.
PO'd, it's either going to be Bears/Colts again or Bears/Patriots - no other combination seems possible. I think the Chargers will actually take a step down this year from their season last year.
Just one last comment from the last thread - no offense to those who like it, but to me, as a nickname, Anytime for Devin Hester fails completely and utterly to match his incomparable specialness. Just seems really mundane.
Looking forward to the predictions, Jeff.

#5 Phillip said . . .My bet's going to Pats/Bears - I figure they're overdue, and like you said Phil, there's not really anyone else out there.

#8 Pissed off said . . .Thinking about science, and the local angle got me to thinking about Fermilab. Check this out from the Fermilab website:
Fermilab is home to the Tevatron, the world's highest-energy particle accelerator.
Four miles in circumference, the Tevatron is housed in a tunnel about 30 feet below the big ring you see in this aerial view of the laboratory. We use a series of accelerators to send particles racing around the Tevatron at 99.9999 percent of the speed of light in a vacuum. The particles complete the four-mile course nearly 50 thousand times a second.

Or maybe it's actually
Devatron
Very esoteric. a little robotic sounding but still kind of cool. Sorry, can't get off the DH naming.
August 30, 2007
#9 Max said . . .I like Devatron, I do but its going to be tough to associate that name with the Tevatron. Only us on this site will now know what this is. If I'm saying Devatron around my friends they wont know what the hell I'm talking about. Has a nice ring though. I wish we could use a name like that but have it be more commonly associated with something everyone knows about. I'm trying to come up with an example on the spot but I cant.

#10 Phil from SATX said . . .Devatron does sound pretty cool. But I agree with PO'ed. No one else would have any idea what we mean when we call him that

#11 Pissed off said . . .Max, Max, come on, don't you know we are a well read site? It's the power of the Internet baby! Plus if one of the Chicago reporters likes it we might read it tomorrow without attribution. Maybe we could get sponsored by Fermilab - if no one knows about Tevatron they've got a PR problem don't they?
But I still like GO - can't you picture the Soldier Field Jumbotron with that one giant word that flashes on right when he catches the kickoff?
Not to further dilute the waters, but for nicknames tied to music, a nearly perfect one came to me this morning
Jumping Jack Flash
Jumping Jack Flash, it's a gas gas gas

#12 jeff said . . .I have to politely request that we get off the "Go" bandwagon. It sounds silly. "Do you know go?" "There goes go" "Man go sure looks good" "oh yeah, go returns lots of kicks for TDs." It doesnt work fellas.

#14 Pissed off said . . .I agree with all those predicting a Bears-Pats rematch of XX. The game will be closer this time but the winner will be the same.
I'll also say the Bears are the top seed in the NFC, and in the playoff will beat the Rams in the divisional round and the Panthers in the championship game.August 30, 2007

#16 Rancid said . . .Tonights game in not meaningless for a few reasons....
#1 - Tommie Harris should see his first action....no one is more important to our defense and we need to see if he is healthy enough to dominate week 1.
#2 - Cedric is averaging less than 4 yds per carry...even if he only plays one series I need to see him punish the hole and gain some serious yardage
#3 - The decision to keep 6 WR's or 5 may be made based off Hass' performance tonight....I for one am rooting for him (Call it an extension of my Tommy Waddle love)
#4 - I want to go undefeated in the pre-season....history shows there is no coorelation between pre-season and regular-season record but I want these guys walking into San Diego thinking they are unbeatable
#5-Gives me somthing to do other than watch the Cubs lose 2 out of 3 to the Brewers....C'Mon BIG Z get your head out of your ass!August 30, 2007
#17 Rancid said . . .To reference #4 in Brian's post. It seems to be generally accepted (in the Bears biased circles I frequent) that Ced will have low preseason y/carry because he is a physical bruising back who wears down defenses and since he isn't playing the second half he can't take advantage of the punishment he has inflicted. I have no idea of this is 100% for sure but it sounds damn good to me!

Browns fan here. Awesome site.
I have you linked.
Tuned in last night, I am convinced that the Bears should groom a guy like Leak (i know he has a noodle arm but he is a winner, a poor man's Vince) in the event Grossman isn't the guy (I believe he is). Griese is about done although a capable backup. Kyle Orton has some value in this league as a starter but he's not going to get his shot in Chicago or he'd already have gotten it. It's time to trade him for a value pick and see what you've got with Leak IF Grossman can't earn a LTC.
Link me if you can. I'll be back often.
