Not pissed off in that "nobody respect us" kinda way that filled columns from the Miami Herald to the San Diego Union-Tribune in the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. The Bears are real pissed off. And who's to thank? Former defensive coordinator and current Public Enemy #1 Ron Rivera. Rivera called Rex a mental midget. The Bears are calling Rivera - in not so many words - a douche bag.

I wrote before the season started that Sunday's home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs is the most important game of the 2007 season. That may have been something of an overstatement but one thing is clear. The Chiefs are walking into a pissed off Soldier Field and facing an offense with something to prove. My bet is they'll prove it. My bet is Rex Grossman is going to be very good Sunday. And I'll bet if the Bears happen to see the Chargers in the mid-winter, i wouldn't want to be Phil Rivers.

The Bears defense looked unstoppable at the beginning of last year too, right up until we lost Mike Brown, and then really slipped when we lost Tommie. The fact that we looked great with those guys back doesn't do Rivera any favors (no noticeable dropoff yet without him) but neither does it indicate that he had nothing to do with that defense. However, the loose lips business does not reflect well on him, that whole team seems a little immature - can you see the Bears, Colts or Patriots doing this? That immaturity is why they won't be able to crawl over the Pats or Colts this year despite immense talent throughout the squad. We're not going to see them in the SB, and it won't be because we're not there.

It's time for some good old ass-kicking bonding, and RT can really help in that cause by creative and fun play calling.
No way can anyone be ready to compare this coordinator with the last, not after one game, but I loved the sideslines shit too. That was exciting, and a good counterpart to Mr. Low Affect Lovie.

1) How can Grossman be associated with anything midget-like? Did you perhaps notice the uniform he's wearing? Bears are well-known for being large, and not only that, Rex lives in the City of Big Shoulders. Double ouch.
2) Any reference to "mental" is completely irrelevant. Uh, have you watched any football lately? Pick the correct answer: a football is thrown with a) your arm, b) your brain. Running the ball is done with a) legs, or b) brain. Rushing the passer involves a) running at him with palms outstretched, or b) throwing your brain at him in the hopes of distracting him.
