LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears had four players selected to the 2008 Pro Bowl this season: LB Lance Briggs, DT Tommie Harris, KR Devin Hester and specials teams selection Brendon Ayanbadejo.
Briggs was chosen to his third consecutive Pro Bowl.
Harris was selected to the Pro Bowl at defensive tackle for the third consecutive year. Harris is the first DT in franchise history to be selected to three straight Pro Bowls.
Hester was selected to his second straight Pro Bowl. Hester is the first player to represent the Bears as a kick returner in two seasons. He is also the first Bears player since Brian Urlacher to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons in the NFL.
Ayanbadejo was selected to his second consecutive Pro Bowl as the NFC’s special teams pick. This marks the first time in team history that multiple special teams players made the Pro Bowl in consecutive seasons for the Bears after Hester, Ayanbadejo and K Robbie Gould made the Pro Bowl last season.
The Bears have had at least four players selected to the Pro Bowl roster in each of the last three seasons, the first time the franchise has accomplished that feat since the 1986-88 seasons.
#2 jeff said . . .Those guys definitely deserve the nod, but one name is not present that I have been making a plea for all year. Charles Peanut Tillman.
Peanut has been the only reliable cog in the secondary and fully understanding that a 5-9 team doesn't deserve a ton of probowlers, Peanut is a probowl guy period.
He is continually matched up against the leagues best and has been as close to a shut down corner in the NFC as there is. Furthermore, is single handedly responsible for at least one win with his takeaway ability, and the argument could be made without him, we're a 3 win team...
hopefully someone steps down and he can finally get the recognition he deserves.

But who needs blockers and tacklers on their team, really?

#5 Bill said . . .Tommie doesnt deserve it this year. Too many injury problems affecting his performace. Briggs, Hester and Brendan well deserved. If Tommie gets in on name alone why isnt Brian in there. I suppose Henderson from MIN took his spot. This must be the first time in a long time #54 wasnt elected to the pro bowl. Same with Olin, he's usually a staple in Hawaii.

#6 Al in WI said . . .I'm VERY happy Olin didn't get in this year. I know players often get in on rep alone, but he really didn't deserve it.
Rosenblog or whatwever his name is had a good point (as he so rarely does): all three QBs have fumbled snaps this year. And all from the same center.
One thing Kruetz coudl have done this year to help the O-line is sucker punch Fred Miller again - only harder.

#7 Bill said . . .Tillman has had a nice year, but to be a pro bowler you need to have more than one or two interceptions. Bottom line on that.
I agree with Po'd that Urlacher deserved the nod instead of Harris. Brian has simply made more big plays.
I was encouraged last night with Urlacher's play. I have hope that this back issue may improve with a offseason of rest. There were 10 days between these last two games and Brian was better than ever.December 18, 2007

We have as many Pro Bowlers as GB.

#9 Al in WI said . . .i cant imagine how briggs made the pro bowl. this defense had two deserving candidates: ogunleye and tillman. harris played most of the season at 78% and briggs was okay at best. olin's snub was a knock on the o-line as a hole. as for last night, i dont blame the oline. i blame the horror show playing quarterback.

You have an astute observation there. Recievers were open, Orton couldn't see them, and MLB pitchers have quicker releases. I don't know if that showed up on TV or not, but from the upper deck there were many open guys.December 18, 2007
#11 Mike said . . .Jeff,
Briggs has been the most consistent player on defense all season, he's been playing like a man on a mission. A mission to get paid, sure, but he has been outstanding all season regardless of what he's playing for. Okay at best? No. If he were, would you want him back next year?
And you can't seriously blame Orton for last night. There are several culprits for the loss ahead of Kyle on my shit list.

#12 This breaking news just in.... said . . .A team with 5 bleepin wins puts 4 guys in the Pro Bowl?!? Embarassing. Tommie Harris? He's been significantly limited all season long. At least the process had the good sense to not send Brian Urlacher and Olin Kreutz to Hawaii. Kreutz has been downright awful all season long. So awful in fact that the Bears should do the wise thing and dump his salary hit for 2008.

#14 Willie from Chicago said . . .I agree with JB, Peanut Tillman was a big playmaker on D for the bears. I think he should have been selected as well. As far as Harris, I think Adewale Ogunleye should have made it instead of Harris. I also thought that Urlacher should have been in. Oh well. Congrats guys on making the probowl!

#15 DA BEARS STILL RULE!!!! said . . .I think we should scrap the O-line and rebuild in that department because with this Offensive line I dont even think Tom Brady would do good.
Last nights lost was honestly the worst that I have ever felt about our offense. As far as our defense, I think it was the best theve played all year.
By the way Lovie addresed the media after the game, do you think he really cares? He seemed like he doesnt. Like Ive said before, Lovie smith is one of the best of-the-field coaches in the league. But in games he is terrible. He doesnt even get on the players at all for mistakes.
Im sad to say it but I think we need to get rid of Lovie, especially if Bill Cohwer comes out of retirement.
What a disapointing year weve had. 13-3 to possibly 5-11. Lets at least finish strong, get some momentum for next year, and finish7-9.

Bear down, Chicago Bears, put up a fight with a might so fearlessly.
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T-formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown.
You're the pride and joy of Illinois, Chicago Bears, BEAR DOWN!!!!!!!To give me some sort of satisfaction for this dissmal season we had, ALL I WANT IS TO KICK GB's BUTT COME SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!

#17 Tone Capone from Jersey said . . .I really question Kyle Orton's passion for remaining in the NFL. He's still inconsistent with medium to short range accuracy. Why is he not hungry to get better? He should buy a jump rope so he can have agility and learn to throw the ball 5 yards to a full-back. Well, at least we know he sucks...His career is over.

#20 Reverend Dave said . . .Dumping Kruetz is not the answer Mike. He by no means deserved to go to the Pro Bowl but cutting him is drastic. He had a down year, let him try to rebound next.
I am not sure anyone other than Hester and Ayanbadejo deserved to go the pro bowl this year. Wale has come on late. Peanut has made some plays. Tommie hasnt been 100% and it shows, and Briggs has been good but made mistakes. Our D is something like 28th in the league. . . that is reason enough for none of them to go.
On the plus side, i will be at the pro bowl, so the more the merrier.

#21 jeff said . . .While he certainly didnt deserve the probowl this year dumping Kreutz would be beyond stupid.
I dont think Tommy really deserved it but Tillman should've made it and the Prince wouldve if our record was better. There were just too many other ends on better teams having similarly great seasons.December 19, 2007
