So there's one game left. One game between the Chicago Bears and a tumultuous offseason of quarterback quandaries and daily draft day directives from combine-fevered fans. One game. And I wanna win it.
There are many people who'll call me crazy. "Why risk losing a top ten draft pick?" they might ask. "Why win such a meaningless game?" Maybe I don't know. But there are some thing I do now. I know I like seeing the boys in navy and burnt win football games. I know I believe that winning a couple down the stretch might give them a jolt of adrenaline to start 2008. I know there was something about Kyle Orton's performance in that wind that made me want to see him again.
But I also know that Sunday the Bears are going to play a football game...and they won't play another one for nine months. That's nine months of other teams in Super Bowls and whoop-dee-doo March Madness. Nine months of pitchers and catchers boring me and TPC at Sawgrass. Nine months of the unwatchable NHL and NBA postseasons. Nine months of passionless sporting events.
No, I'll take my Bears. One last time. At home. To win. I'll take a couple smiles on a cold December Sunday...the last Sunday of 2007. The last Sunday of a terrible 2007 season. But a Sunday nevertheless.
Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope this site made you a little happier this year.

#6 Willie from Chicago said . . .It's also important for another reason. It will mark the end for several Bears in Chicago. Some we may be glad to see but go, but at the same time have to be greatfull for some memories in a super bowl season.
Others we hope will be back, but may not be. Rex, Bernard, and Lance come to mind. It will be an important moment in Bears history for sure either way.
Merry Christmas All!!December 25, 2007
#7 Midway Monster said . . .Look what winning the last few games did for the Packers, they missed the playoffs at 8-8 I think but they won there last 3 or 4 games and it carried over to this year.
Besides dont we all want to see the Bears kill the Saints chances at a playoff spot?
All I want is the Bears to go out with a bang, lets remind the league that were still a dominatibg Defense that will be a threat come next year.
As far as draft position, players in the draft are no garentees, plus why would you want to spend top ten money on an unproven player? I say we should maybe trade down or trade our pick all together for O-linemen.
I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holidays. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Vikings may have to chase McNabb
Posted: Tuesday December 25, 2007 10:20AM ETThe Vikings say they will evaluate their quarterback status at the end of the season. But there seems little doubt that they will inquire about the availability of Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb this winter. The problem for Minnesota is that McNabb, 31, would cost at least two first-round draft picks.

#11 Rancid said . . .Yeah I agree... even tho the Eagles came out & looked sharp at the Super Dome; Donovan "Mellow Yellow" McNabb only has about another season in him. No way is he worth 2 Uno's.
The Eagles are playing out their season like us namely, they eeked by the Cowboys 10-6 and rolled the Saints 38-23, so they are looking to finishing on a high note.
The Saints have been putting the numbers up. They beat the Cards 31-24 and then lost to the Birds 38-23. That said, lets see how they do in the ChiTown cold. Here hoping for another windy day that'll whip around so you can't figure out how to put (wind vs Hester).
It ought to be a nice win to close out the season.

PS - we beat Green Bay twice.

#12 jeff said . . .I liked McNaab for a 2nd rounder. Two firsts is a joke. No way.
This has been a fun season. A season with no sure bets. I am convinced that we could beat the Pats and then lose to the Dolphins the next week with this team. It's not ideal, but it sure has been fun.
I agree with jeff entirely about loving the last game. I differ in that I really enjoy March Madness, second only to the Bears, but I'd trade the whole month for one more Bears game. Lousy weather games at Soldier are what Bears football is about. Here's to a couple more weeks of talking about what da Bears just did before we dive into what we should do.
Question for Midway: This is one I have struggled with myself: Will you be able to hate the Packers with the same stength of contempt when #4 retires? I struggle. It's almost like I need him there for the forces of good and evil to be in balance. It would not have been nearly as enjoyable to watch Rogers struggle this past week. But seeing Farve (on purpose) whine and weep about the weather in the press conference was great.

*The "Iron Man" sure looked like a little bitch on Sunday. How 'bout this? I won the championship in my fantasy league against a team named "Da Bears" who featured 0 bears and 5 packers! HA HA!
Rancid- I will have no trouble whatsoever hating the brown bay shit packers once granpa heads back to mississippi. It should be a city wide celebration in Chicago when he does retire. I'm thinking parade. Jersey burnings.... Maybe a reenactment of something similar to the Saddam Statue being tore down in Iraq....
Jeff- Remind your friends who want that top ten pick what we did with the 4th overall pick a couple years ago. I'll take a Bears win everytime!
BTW....anybody see that Bears-Packers game?!?! WHOOO-HOOOO! Go Bears! Lets destroy the 'Aints' hope once again!

Jeff- is there anyway you can make it so we can upload our pics next to our names? I'd love to put faces to the names of some of these characters on this blog......
