Hey all. I am returning to life slowly from a five-day disaster of the flu. We'll get back to the offseason analysis and even talk some Super Bowl next week.
As for now, I'm asking our valued readers what you think this site lacks or what you'd like to this side to add before the beginning of the 08-09 season (which officially begins on Draft Day). We're always looking to adapt and we'd love your thoughts.
Word to the wise: we're doing quarterback next. Look out.

#4 Megan said . . .One feature I like on a basketball blog I frequent (of course not nearly as much as here) is a "daily links" page. They scour the net for team related stories and news and then post them all in a list you can click on. Similar to how we post a link in a comment when we find something interesting. Of course, this other blog has 7 full-time employees, so someone actually has all the time to do that.
This isn't the first time you've asked for advice on the blog and frankly I love it the way it is. I have to wrack my brain trying to come up with something you could do better. It's simpler than other blogs and I like that. I don't hate the idea of expanding it, but I can get news reports and media elsewhere. Dabearsblog enables me to attend a Bears sports bar when I am work or home. Dabearsblog allows me to surround myself with bears fans (plus a few trolls and Mike) who care enough about the team to actually still be having conversations in the post-season. Where else am I gonna find dedicated Bears fans year round in upstate NY? This site provides me banter. Anything else is a bonus, I come here for that though. This site is so good I check it first, even when other teams I follow are actually still playing in their seasons. Of course, I care more about the Bears than other teams. Anyway, keep it up.

#5 jeff said . . .We talked about this at before the 07-08 season. I thought Noah, the web geek here on DBB, was going to help with loading posts quicker? Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing. I like how this blog is set up, more then any of the others I've seen out there.
How about if it could help me loose that last 10lbs I have had trouble with?
I'm glad you're still alive Jeff! Did some nice person bring you lots of chicken soup? (It's the momma in me, that asks; I ask 'cuz I care.)January 27, 2008
#6 Rancid said . . .rancid, daily links is coming in 2008. we're going to add a section with links from around the web and a little paragraph of my thoughts on them underneath...it'll allow me to move stuff like that away from the main page. as for pictures, duff, we'll be talking more in the next few weeks.

#8 start Olsen said . . .Sgt. Duffy, Great pictures man, I especialy loved the ones with your son (how old is he?) 10 years from now he'll be blogging here (just like his dad), and the ones at wrigley field (Go Cubs). Again Great pictures and congrats on your son.
Jeff, As far as this site, the only things that i would love to have are
1 Have a feature that blocks all packer fans from blogging here lol
2 Have like a roster page so we can see all the injuries and whose starting for the next week.
Other than that I think this site is perfect, especially since we have the same people blogging on it (with some cheese heads). Im glad your back and i hope that youll be feeling 100% soon!

#9 Megan said . . .Hey, Ive been away from the blog with a bad case of post-season depression myself. I just have one question:
WHERE THE HELL ARE THE PACKER FANS NOW??January 27, 2008
#10 Packer Fan said . . .S.O. gee I dunno where they are, perhaps all frozen at Lambeau Field?
Duff, you have such a beautiful family. Congrats to you!
And you have one of my fav shots from last year's play-off games at SF. I STILL have that game saved on TiVo.
I'm an older folk (not that old.. just old enough) and don't have a myspace website, so pics to me are no biggie. I'm for it!January 27, 2008

We've moved on already.
We're gearing up for baseball season. Go Brewers!January 28, 2008
#12 Z said . . .Links are a good idea.
What about a poll or two?
Any ideas for a pick 'em type pool?
And who is this Noah character I keep hearing about?
Can we engage with enemy bloggers, and perhaps send a few questions during our week's matchup? For example GB: Sooo that championship choke by your hero must have sucked for you, but did it suck more than losing to Chicago, TWICE?
... Jeff can think of something more productive.
Speaking of FaRve hating, where's Midway?
More for Chicagoans:
Has anyone noticed a disturbing trend in our city's sports?Cubs: Terrible start, had a few good weeks, and ended embarrasing themselves in the playoffs. The only reason they even made the playoffs is because of the terrible NL Central.
Bulls: Off to another aweful start, the Bulls aren't playing up to pre-season expectations. The only way they COULD make the playoffs this year is because the East is so damn weak. They don't even deserve to make the playoffs.
And Bears: Not even close to peoples expectations. They didn't deserve to make the playoffs either, even though the garbage NFC allowed the Bears to remain in the playoff hunt for an embarrasing amount of time.
Last thought:
If the Bears sign at least 1 established OT in free agency, I would love to see Kenny Phillips in a Bears uniform. I feel like the Bears missed out last year on Laron Landry because they HAD to franchise Briggs. There could be a chance Kenny falls to Chicago, and if he does I want Chicago to sign him up. Stopping the run and running the football is still the way to win football games, especially late in the season. I remember thinking during the season that the safety position was about as atrocious as the O-line was.

I'll prolly change my mind tomorrow and hope they trade down for Mendenhall and Flacco.

#13 craig said . . .The site is phenominal. Is there a way to make people have to just use 1 name on here so we know who is cowardly talking smack?
Kenny Phillips sounds like a perfect fit for our biggest defensive weakness. BT please stick to what u screw up at the least. FA for O and the Draft for D.

I think a huge strength of the site has been its relative simplicity, both in terms of design and in terms of content. You focus on doing one thing, and you do it really, really well.
Of course, I wouldn't mind seeing you add a few dashes of spice here and there, but keep the same approach...

Here at DaBearsBlog, you are free to kill us or the Bears as you so wish. You are not free, however, to be an asshole. So if you spew racism or ill-meaning foul language (cursing about football is just fine) or anything of that ilk, your comments ain't gonna last long, jerk.
