Bears To Win Super Bowl

Friday, March 28, 2008 | Jeff

There's a couple things I hate about the internet. One is that I'm buying in. Two is fan speculation on who teams are going to/should draft. Really, what do any of us know about talent evaluation? We know what we see on the college football field and we know the numbers generated at the combine. So I know Tom Brady wasn't going to be much of a quarterback and Devin Hester is not first-round talent. Hell, I wondered what the Bears were thinking by drafting Hester with LEONARD POPE SITTING ON THE BOARD! LEONARD POPE IS AVAILABLE AND THEY'RE TAKING A KICK RETURNER! HE'S LEONARD POPE! Worse...go back and read this. That's right, I wanted Eddie Drummond.

We know nothing at all. Get over it. It's fact. What do I know? I know how every team is going to finish in 2008 without drafting talent or running a wind sprint. I know today, March 28th. Here are the six playoff teams in our conference played right through to the Super Bowl.

NFC
Dallas Cowboys 11-5
Cowboys sell their soul for Pacman Jones and it pays off.
Chicago Bears 10-6
Bears get healthy on defense and stay that way for sixteen plus games.
New Orleans Saints 10-6
Sean Payton wallops a swiss cheese division and Jon Vilma wins comeback player.
Arizona Cardinals 10-6
Seahawks nosedive. Cardinals rise.
New York Giants 9-7
Just don't think they're good enough to do it for an entire season.
Minnesota Vikings 9-7
They change quarterbacks three times. They never change running back.

Wildcard Round
New York Giants over Arizona Cardinals
New Orleans Saints over Minnesota Vikings

Divisional Round
New York Giants over Dallas Cowboys
Chicago Bears over New Orleans Saints

NFC Championship Game
Chicago Bears over New York Giants

Super Bowl
Chicago Bears over Cleveland Browns (after a 13-3 year)

Go Bears!! Any of you guys on here ever play any O-line in college, maybe high school, flag football, anything.

The NFC side sounds good but how do you get the Browns? Please I want to know how you figured that out.

Love it. 10-6 is more than realistic in the NFC if the players click. Again I'll say look at the Giants of last year. We could do that, and better.

love the damn browns this season. they are oging to be better at absolutely every position on the field, including trading for cory and shaun at defensive tackle which i think will make them dynamic against the run. this prediciton ain't changing.

All right that is Big Rob, Bears99 and yeah Tenacious D too (Cool name and a Holiday Inn Express, fuck it why not). I thought we would start a backup contingency plan to the back up plan if the BT shits the bed in this draft (which I really think they will not, hope, hope) or the other team's cuts don't exactly inspire us. (Risky way to plan on building a playoff contender IMO, with rookie starters and other teams castoffs that you don't even have yet).

So boys have an extra bowl of wheaties if you would. U just never know how much money they are trying to save over there in Halas Hall and what we may have to do to save the day.

U guys are pretty big boys right. Over 5'6" at least right. OK good.

And yes I have my daughter this weekend and she is sleeping and I am really this bored out of my mind.

I really hope I spelled something wrong or someone argues with me, about anything really. Wait! I used back up in two different ways, or is it backup, which is it, which way is right, someone is at webster.com searching right now, waiting to pounce, they know they have me, I used it two different ways, there is no escape.

And for the record if the Bears D is healthy, I think they and the ST will keep us competitive in some games even if we put a couple of bar stools up on the line every snap. I feel confident we will at least have a little better than that.

Besides a few certain people being there at 14, I say trade it down and give the BT more chances to hit on a winner. People bust all the time and these guys seem just as likely to hit gold later as much as they do earlier in the draft.

GO BEARS!!

Nice! U hear DA BEARS BLOG Angelo? Pick em good, spend that $$ or we got volunteers ready.

Besides Jerry, doesn't Super Bowl Champion sound much better than unemployed former General Manger? :-) Have a nice day. And yes I do take into account that we went to the SB. The team still has to be heading in the right direction. (Reasonably priced WR's and O-Linemen slipping thru our fingers, still time though)

Oh and if RT doesn't seem to understand how to use our weapons better after oh I don't know 2 games (or 2 plays), I am still in favor of a drunk monkey throwing darts at a wall of plays to decide our offense over him. At least the D won't know exactly what we are calling with the monkey. And yes he showed a glimmer of brain activity at the end of the season when we were out of it so survey says, not convinced. Prove me wrong, please! Free hint: Their jerseys say Hester and Olsen on the back. For free tickets I will stand near you RT and scream at you which players they are. All game long. No problem. Happy to do it.

BEAR DOWN!!

Z....I'm 5'11", a svelte 165 but scrappy as hell. I can promise only 2 things:
1) I will at least initiate some contact with the opposing d-lineman before he plows into Rex or Kyle, which is more than I can say for our o-line starters last year.
2) I will not false start on every other damned play, like Miller did. If I do you can make me go to the shooting range with Olin.

By the way, I'm in favor of your trading down idea, as long as we come away with a starting lineman. Maybe Albert or Cherilus.

March 30, 2008

#26 Z said . . .

Yep that kind of O-line activity sounds like an upgrade over last season to me Tenacious D. Drafting a starter is a painfully obvious, absolute necessity now. Why not sign Ruben Brown on the cheap as a backup since he wants to be here. If he plays better than everyone and ends up the starter, that would suck why?

"Well we are going to go in a different direction this year with the o-line" was the reason given, and what, not have one. Brilliant. Defenses will never see it coming.

If they do trade for more picks, maybe they should draft 3 or 4 linemen this year and a RB and a WR. DT and S only if there are extra picks after that. I'll ride out with this D for a season to have a glimmer of hope that the O can carry some weight.

wow, there is some size on the board. Im about 6' and 210, and have no interest whatsoever of getting the shit kicked out of me by someone 6 inches taller and 100 lbs. of muscle heavier than myself. Ill stick to playing guard in the city league- basketball, that is. You big boys go for it, Ill be rooting for you.
Ill play out my Bears fantasies on Madden 08, usually at safety, where I am 80 times faster than I could ever hope to be in real life. And where Hester is my starting wideout, and catches about 3 80 yard plus TD bombs from Grossman a game...
and yes, Im in my 30s. Sad huh?

#29 callmestupid said . . .

Call me stupid but I not only think that the Bears will but they should draft DEFENSE with pick 14. QB? Rex breaks out this year. RB? Mendenhall sounds awesome but the Bears have too much $$$ invested in Bust Benson. OT? Maybe but someone said it i think on this site>> which leaves my point on defense: less firstround busts at a position like safety or defensive tackle _ i"m just saying don"t be suprised if the bears go safety or dline in the first round and it makes their already sick defense even more dominant. Like Superbowl dominant.

#30 Pissed Off said . . .

Wow our offensive line is going to look more like a saloon door this year than last.

Jeff what about teams being able to pass all over the Browns. I have a hard time believing that they can win 13 games when the likes of Roethlisberger and whoever is passing for the Ravens can put up 350 and 4 TDs against that secondary twice a year.

6'1 and currently 275.

Played OT/DT as well as Prop (rugby) in high school. Played Prop in college and will be once again when I find the time to join the local men's club up here.
