According to Mort, Brett Favre is "itching" to return.
Now what did those tears mean to you, Packers fans?
Once again, the most selfish athlete of the last three decades rears his ugly head around douche bag corner. I'm sure Aaron Rodgers is thrilled.
#2 Anytime said . . .Jeff, Which tears do you mean...the ones from last season, the season before that, or the season before that? This has to be a serious distraction for the Pack, and in that sense I think its great!
How would you like to be Aaron Rodgers? First they draft 2 QB's, and now Farve wants to come back? Wow. This guy's confidence will be shot before he ever starts a game.

#3 Taylor said . . .FORTE SIGNS
LAKE FOREST, IL — The Chicago Bears agreed to terms today on a four-year contact with RB Matt Forte. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Forte was selected by the Bears in the second round (44th overall) out of Tulane and is the 11th of 12 Bears drafts picks to sign or agree to terms, the most in the NFL (Atlanta is second with eight). To date, 70 picks from the 2008 NFL draft have signed or agreed to terms with their respective teams.
Forte finished his career at Tulane (2004-07) as the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards per game (99.2), rushing touchdowns (39), total touchdowns (44) and scoring among non-kickers (266 points). The 6-2, 216 pounder finished his Green Wave career ranked second in school annals in all-purpose yards (5,261), rushing yards (4,265), rushing attempts (833) and 100-yard rushing games (16). Forte is just the 11th player in NCAA Division I (Bowl Subdivision) history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season with 2,127 in 2007 which ranks seventh all-time in NCAA history.

#4 Windy City Packer Fan said . . .I'm not surprised. Of course there are going to be "reports" of him wanting to come back, but that doesn't mean he actually will. Of course he's "itching" to come back. He's been a professional football player for nearly 2 decades. But again an "itch" doesn't mean he is planning on coming back. Call him selfish if you want, but regardless of what he says, feels, or does, rumors like these were bound to come out.

#5 Shady said . . .Wow, it didn't take you people long to jump on this one. If you play your cards right, he may be the next #4 to wear the Bears uniform. No way that the Pack lets him come back to play as the starter.

#6 jeff said . . .Major Kudos go out to the Bears management team, Cliff Stein in particular, for always getting these kids signed and ready for camp. The one exception that stands out? Cedric Benson.
Oh yeah and I hope grandpa Favre does make a comeback, all it means is more game-losing turnovers.

Is Baltimore that close to fielding a Super Bowl team this year? Denver? Cleveland? I don't see an ideal destination.

#16 Decatur Staleys #7 said . . .I whinned about it in previous weeks, but got to hand it to the organization on the rookie signings. Let's get Chris Williams in the barn and move to the next phase of who's going to suffer in roster cuts. Then we'll see how the free agent (OL/RB) pool is looking.
Wolfe was a rookie learning the plays and the true speed of the game, overall he was not put in positions that create successful opportunites. As a third down type back my thought is that your not really looking at running the edges, your looking at draw plays and dump off outlets or screen passes and at this point he seems to excel in those plays.
Faaverah is not likely to come back even with the talk, not only because of him, but because the Packers will have to pay him more money in addition to all the practice adjustments. There is potential that if AR goes down that Faaverah will be on the field within a week.

If you go back on this blog you'll see I've said that I didnt buy it. He's done this shit year after year. I just cant wait till he truly hangs it up and falls off the face of the earth. I hope this yearly charade (sp) ruins his legacy. I think he's already decided to come back but he's easing into it so he doesnt look like a total flat out liar.
Hey WCPF, are you serious in #4? What makes you think that? Do you think then if he comes back it'll be as a backup? Or with another team? He aint coming back as a #2 and I cant see him with another team. Rodgers has got to be getting pissed off by now. If I was him I'd just hire a hitman already. GOD I HATE FAVRE!

I don't care if Farve comes back as much as I care about signing a vet RB for the Bears.
We will stand against anybody that takes the field against us and Farve is a shadow of anything great he used to be, if that makes sense.

#24 Luke said . . .I just hope that if he plays next season they don't call it a 'come back.' Newsflash...he never left!
This isn't fair at all to the Packer either...if he wants to come back, he should say so immediately or stop the rumors now. I'm sure Rodgers just loves being kept in limbo after sitting on the bench for what, is it 3 years now? Like they say, shit or get off the pot Brett.
P.S. I'll be bitter if he comes back...I was at the Bears-Pack game in December and happy to say that I saw the Bears beat him in his last game at Soldier Field. (after numerous losses at his hands of course)

#25 Pissed Off said . . .Well, needless to say, if Favre does come back, I think we'll be seeing Rodgers anyway. Why do I say this? Well, because of the good people at EA Sports that is. With the choosing of Brett Favre for the cover of Madden NFL 09, Brett is now cursed and his perfect attendence record is sure to be ruined. I was wondering if something would happen to him in his retirement because of this convenient "security blanket." But now all this speculation as to his coming back to the Pack, maybe the curse will remain where it belongs, on the field, and tarnish the legacy of one of Chicago's greatest enemies.
The Madden Curse is real. Let's see if #4's up for that one.
July 3, 2008
#26 animal said . . .I gotta think Madden himself must have some pull on who's on the cover of the game. He knew the curse was real so he's held Brett off of the cover for years, otherwise it would have been Brett Favre on the cover year after year after year. He thought this was actually, finally it for Brett so he thought, 'hey he cant get hurt if he's retired, this'll be a great farewell present'. Well now Favre will come back and this curse will send him into retirement once and for all.

Funny about Favre. I contend his return would be good for us; all he does is blow big games, lose to the Bears and throw INTs. 54 would be happy to see him come back Im sure- Favre pads his stats.July 4, 2008
#28 jdawg said . . .I'm a Bears fan forever..{but} I would put Favre in my top 3 players of all time. If only we had picked him up. He had a great season last year, just walk away Brett. Favre, favre away.

#32 Shady said . . .Here's the kind of pundits that drive me crazy.
ESPN runs this story about all 32 teams and how they would or wouldn't be able to use Faaaverah. Here's the Bears and Vikes quotes:
Chicago Bears: The Bears could use Favre and they likely will make a run at him if he becomes available. But the Bears are a long ways away and have few offensive weapons. Favre would have to be desperate to join the Bears.
Minnesota Vikings: This is the perfect landing spot for Favre. The Vikings are the best team in need of a quarterback. The addition of Favre would make Minnesota an instant Super Bowl contender. But there's a problem: The Packers likely would never let that happen.
I really really really want the vikings to suck and really really really want the Bears to shut the fuckers up. Yea, yea, I have bias, but how the Fuck are you going to say we have so few offensive weapons. Does anybody really know whether that's true or not?
July 6, 2008
#33 Rancid said . . .Yes, it's true. The Bears have very few offensive weapons they can rely on, especially with BB changing colors like a chameleon. Hester is explosive but mostly as a return man. Relying on Hester for offense is not good for the Bears OR for Devin.
There have been some changes along the line, but it doesn't look like enough on paper. Kyle Orton, Rex Grossman, Brett Favre, John Madden or anybody would be under pressure behind the line, although I wouldn't mind seeing Favre taking shots to his blind side more often.
We lost our starting runningback, even if he is a complete waste. We gained a seasoned WR to replace our last along with a 3rd round possesion WR and a late round red zone hope. There is going to be a lot of hoping for this offense because EVERYTHING has to go right for them to dominate a game. As much as I am looking forward to watching the defense dominate again, I am nervous about watching this constipated offense "go to work".
Buy a laxative already Jerry.
July 6, 2008
#34 shonbear said . . .Rex Grossman becoming Good Rex permanently is possible. Matt Forte stepping in and being good or even great is possible. The O line being solid is possible. The WR corps falling into line is possible. The Defense staying injury free all season and therefore dominating is also possible. Now it is true that the chances of ALL those things happening isn't all that likely BUT . . . why the hell couldn't it? That's why we're fans! It's gonna happen!
July 7, 2008
#35 AfroCelt said . . .Shady,
I'm with you, but I at least see some offensive weapons in both our tight ends. Devin Hester is a weapon. If there's any truth to Rasheed Davis development, he's a potential weapon. The offensive line at the least should be improved (health withstanding) .
Many don't like our QB's, but at least Rex has shown that he can be a weapon. What's left? Some new receivers and a new running back, all of which at least have potential, it's an unknown, so all I'm saying is that if it's an unknown, they should state it that way. The way it should be stated by a non-bias person should be that it remains to be seen whether all the new offensive players in Chicago will mesh and demonstrate the necessary skill to execute the offense and get some points on the board. Until these guys get to put some games together in preseason going into the regular season it's an unkown.
How can pundits say anything about a team not having weapons, there are only so many people that even make it in the NFL, these guys are all the best of the best. Whether they are the best of the best when it comes to work ethic, character, execution and proness to injury is something that can never be known until they play the games.
My main point is that I think it's for guys like us to say this guy sucks that guy sucks, this team will amount to anothing that team will amount to something etc... and it's for the "professional" pundits to provide a balanced outlook on any teams potential. If they want to state that things are doubtful due to so many new starters and so on, then it seems more balanced to me. You can't say the team has no weapons, you can say that they have fewer weapons since the loss of some players to free agency and cuts with the caveot that others need to step up.
I know I'm thinking with a pie in the sky mentality here, but it's what I look for when I hear them talking about football. I still think that the Bears should have a major chip on their shoulder and realize what it takes to get back to the Superbowl, it still wasn't that long ago.
I'm concerned that if Lovie doesn't do something in light of getting this team into the playoffs and get at the least another playoff win, he will probably only last another year, our best players (the defense) will be getting too old to keep waiting on the offense to follow suit and it will be too late to really make a difference. Then were looking at another long drout for our team to be good again, coaching changes, player changes etc...
The time is now and our organization and core players that have made it to an actual Superbowl need to get this thing done.
Sorry I was all over the place with thoughts on this one, just slice this rant up and take what you can from it.
I thin kwe need some Bears news. Training Camp starts in 16 days!!!
