Don't let the bitterness of Brian Griese spoil the enjoyment of the best drive the Bears have mounted in years. David Haugh thinks tomorrow is a must-win. He's half-correct. If the Bears expect to be taken seriously on a national scale, they'll need a definitive showing. But with three winnable games in October and a division without a clear front-runner, one game does not a season make.

It would be encouraging if the Bears defense keeps it close enough to give the offense an opportunity late in the game, even if the Bears don't happen to win. I think Jeff has the right perspective on this one. Not entirely a must win, but this game Sunday night has a significant impact on the definition of the Bears' 2008 season. Chicago stepped up Sunday night in Indianapolis on week one, and I believe they'll do it again tomorrow night. Go Bears!

Actually, I agree with David Haugh. It happens occassionally. I think the most valid point is that, at this stage in the game, if Chicago makes the postseason it will be as a wildcard team. And any wildcard tiebreaker would most likely be with Philly, Tampa, or those rat bastards in Carolina.

Bears lose, season is mortally wounded. Bears win, they walk away to a relaxing October schedule with three teams that should be demolished followed by a nicely timed bye week. I just cannot see them recovering from a loss against Philidelphia in Chicago. 2005 was inexplicable. 2008 is undwhelming.

What is with the irrational hatred of Griese. With his ability to move the chains, to audible, play action and experience he fits the Bears well, plus give him Forte or T. Jones instead of Benson he would have really done well here if BG was helping to control the clock the defense would be that much more rested and able to attack. Remember it was Grossman in the Dallas game last year that turned the ball over so much that the defense suffered numerous serious injuries trying to heroically win the game. Orton obviously has made improvements but he is not as good right now as BG. The best thing the Bears could have done would to have traded Rex for a 6th rounder, kept BG and Orton and Hanie but maybe Bears coaches felt insecure around a decent veteran QB, much like J. Krause claimed that organizations win championships, not players. Also the defense last week in regulation time totally shut down the run and was decent against the pass, all the offense had to was something. What if Tampa had Orton and the Bears had Griese, any thoughts on how that might have worked out?
