Philadelphia Eagles

@

Your 2008 Chicago Bears

Dear Bears,

Play football tonight like football is all that matters. Play football tonight like the very notion of losing two games in front of your home crowd is an affront you dare not suffer. Please play football tonight like it's the 17th week of the season and your playoff life depends on it. Play football tonight like you played football two years ago: with guts and heart. With bluster. With passion.

Play football tonight and win. Just win.

Bear down,

jeff

I have no idea what to expect tonight.

What would I love to see?
1. A Bears ball control offense that DOESN'T turn the ball over and completes some passes downfield to keep the defense honest.
2. A Bears defense that DOESN'T wilt in the 4th quarter and plays a complete game...regardless of how much time they have to spend on the field.
3. Impact plays from Devin Hester and Mike Brown for the first time this season. (okay, okay...they have both made some plays, but not the game changing ones we have come to expect from the both of them)
4. A jacked up home field crowd that refuses to let its team go 1-3 before one of the easiest stretches of the season.

Enjoy today's games everybody...and of course, tonight's game against Philly.

Go Bears!

No prediction....just can't get there yet.

I have been watching the Packers game today and I think we underestimated how good the Bucs are. They are making Aaron Rodgers and the Packers look really bad. It is exciting since we match up very similar with the Packers. Since the first drive the Packers have been able to do very little with the ball. If the Bucs can hold them off and the Bears can pull it off tonight we are tied for first. There is a lot to be postive about....

September 28, 2008

#11 Wake up time said . . .

Yes, I've been watching it too. Agree on all points. Also Bucs should have at least another FG besides the TD they just scored. The Int was off the receivers hand. Hmmmm. Seen that before.

Go Bucs. Beat the fucking Packers.

Why did i have to go and Jinx it? Now Griese is trying to give the game away to the Fudge Packers!

September 28, 2008

#13 animal said . . .

Nice to see Griese do it to the Packers as well.

Did you see Gaines Adams LIGHT UP Rodgers? Nice.

Hey, fudgepack fans, Aaron Rodgers called. He wants you to pick him up at the hospital.

That's him in the bed next to Al Harris.

FUCK THE PACKERS!! MY DAY IS HALF WAY MADE!!
FUCK THE VIQUEENS!! YAAAA BABY!

September 28, 2008

#14 NY Bears Fan said . . .

Six TD's by Favre and Rodgers is hurting after the punishment that the Bucs layed down on him. I think a lot of Bears fans were wishing for that scenario!

The way the year has shaped up so far the first two losses are from solid teams that are continuing to win. After the Eagles the Bears have 4 team that are reeling right now and the Titans look like the only tough team on the schedule through November.

September 28, 2008

#15 Z said . . .

Yeah Pack lose!! Rodgers has 3 INT's and a banged up shoulder.

Min just lost too!!

Come on Bears huge chance to get in this season!!!

A win, and a tie for the division lead! who would have thought that would be possible today?? WOW. This game is HUGE. The Bears should come out jacked up and looking to redeem themselves. this is a HUGE opportunity in the division. Thank you Tampa and Tennessee.

September 28, 2008

#19 Al In WI said . . .

Keys to the game:
1. Pressure McNabb early and often. For all the hype about how great he is, he's still a player that get's rattled and wears down. Put hits on him, and force him to make mistakes.
2. Play Kevin Jones. Matt Forte has been an impressive player so far this season. But he's carrying to the ball too much, and Jones is a more punishing runner. He didn't get many primetime opportunities in Detroit and may be primed for a break out game. Also keeping the ball and the game out of the shaky hands of Kyle Orton would be a plus as well.
3. Use the right weapons. That means when you pass the ball your options should be as follows; 1. Lloyd, 2. Clark, 3. Booker, 4. Olsen. And that's it. Enough of the dump passes to running backs, and enough trying to count on Rash Davis. Marty Booker has a lot left in the tank if Orton can hit him.
4. Quick hook. If any player is obviously struggling the Bears must pull him asap. That means eyes on Orton, Vasher, and Davis.
Get 'em boys you have great opportunity sitting here with the state of this division.

I missed the 1st Defensive stand. Heard we had a sack.

GO making up for previous mishaps with a sweet TD catch. Suprised Reid didn't review that. It was close.

D bending. Eagles are prety good. Briggs with a hit that guys mama probably felt. Mike Brown laying it down breaking up what would have been a 1st and goal.

But then their rookie makes 3 of our guys look lost beating the zone for a TD.

Great to see Hester in there.

Bear Down!!!

Booming punt. Holy Crap. He let it go. Down at the what 4? 6?

Nice come on D! Let em have it. We need a Turnover. Pick for a TD. Sack with a fumble for a TD

September 29, 2008

#121 Ronaldo said . . .

I like the way this is shaking out so far. KO's been lights out and the D is starting to shake some of the rust off and making plays.

4th Q, here we come. Defense get ready.

#122 Z said . . .

I was going to bitch about the Eagles 24 yard run and our tackling issue then I saw they had some good fortune and good blocking on that play and Payne held on until reinforcements came

And then Payne picks it off. YES

They got that WR pushed and spun and that was awesome. Way to go D. Did I call that or what?

How about a big play to a TE here?

Buckholter down and it doesn't
look good

We are at the Philly 11

NO KO pick in the endzone. WTF?

Wow what a momentum slower that was. Points for sure just gone. Damn

Sorry D. We need it again. FUCK. Come on Orton that looked pretty bad

Another incomplete. Way to go D

Punt. Shit hester run back and get that. Oh never mind. Let it bounce. Shit he looks slow tonight. Not his usual burst. Bu the didn't look slow on the TD. Hmmm! Maybe it is just me. Still our ball. The 4 yard line is not my preference. Come on. Drive O. 1st downs

KO was up, then down, but remember before we start the criticism who he was playing, and what they have done to other, much more highly touted, quarterbacks.

Nice tackle by Vasher to seal the victory.

Matt Forte is the People's Champ. I love that he never celebrates. He grinds it out, and even on the biggest plays, he straightens his helmet and heads back to work.

I wish KO hadn't been so terrible in the second half, but I don't know that it completely overshadows how tremendous he was in the first.

Despite giving up some long drives, you gotta feel good about the D's stands late in this game. They simply would not lose this one. This was their win.

Tied for first in the division. Go Bears!

This game was about REDEMPTION. Greg Olsen, goat of Game 2, made a beautiful fingertip TD catch. Rashied Davis, who has stunk the last two games, made some big catches early. Kyle Orton, who I personally think was about ready to lose his job, redeemed himself with three TDs ... yes, he got away with some more boneheaded plays, but the defense bailed him out this time. And yes, the D, they redeemed themselves after folding like a cheap suit two weeks in a row, they refused to lose and produced a goal-line stand for the ages. I love how much the Eaagles are hating Chicago right now: last year, we beat them with a classic tw0-minute drill, and this year we turn them back fourth-and-one at the goal line. Does anyone know ... was McNabb losing his cookies on that final drive?

September 29, 2008

#183 animal said . . .

For some reason, I have been saying the Vikes and Pack are 2-2. My bad. the Queens are 1-3. Not sure how I missed that. So we are tied with just the fudgepack for the division lead.

Please tell me Rodgers' injury is very very serious. Tell me something is broken. Tell me the Bears will face Flynn or Brohm in our next two meetings.

My how fast things can turn in the NFL.

We need to take the Lions VERY seriously. Need to play very hard and not overlook them. That said, we should win by two TDs.
I would love to see Forte get 100 yards on the ground, 50 through the air, 2 TDs. I fuckin love this guy. He was a ROCK tonight.

Alex Brown. Thank You.

Another gut wrenching game. Offense had its moments in the first half...second half, not so much. Too many silly turn overs and they will need to learn to limit those if we are going to become a playoff team. Also, I hope Lloyd isn't hurt too seriously because he is clearly our best receiver. Kudos to Forte on that third down at the end...Ced doesn't get there guaranteed. On defense...still not enough pressure from the front four, but I was glad to see that they continue to limit the big play...especially against an offense like this one. Very, very glad that Westbrook didn't play though. He makes a huge difference. Great job on the goal line of course. Way to win it this time Fellas! More tomorrow...good night all.

Two words:

Wow and wheh!

Get some rest now fellas and get some pussy next week! Here's to hoping this shows the offense is starting to get into a groove (except for the turn-over problems) This is just showing that when we have the killer instict we are going to win these kinds of games.

Here's to a team that should be 4-0 not letting it get to their head when we face the lowly lions next week. How are the lions against the run? Might want to let a hungry Kevin Jones take over that game because maybe he thinks he has something to prove and at the same time it will rest our star.

This feels so much better waiting for the next weeks game, than the last two weeks.

Wow! and Wheh!!

This team has been resurrected from the dead.
This team was looking at 1-3 and dead in the water. I claim nothing- I thought they would lose. They actually won.
Goal line stand for the ages. ESPN Classic. Amazing.
This team has life.
They now go into a stretch of games nothing at all like the first 4 they played. Think back to preseason, and imagine if we had promised to be 2-2 in these games. We would all be excited. Now we should be.
The Bears could very well fuck this up. They have proven that. But, they shouldn't. They should go 4-0 or 3-1 in the next 4.

We play the Lions twice in the next 4 games. That's medicine for the ill baby. It would be sweet to knock off the Queens during this stretch.

#193 Joist said . . .

So many excellent things about this game.

1a) The Defense. They put their money where their mouth is, and despite some schematic flaws, collectively decided that they simply would not allow a TD in the second half, regardless of the situation (1st and goal at the 1, TWICE) or the Eagles' starting field position.

1b) Ron Turner. I belittle him when he fucks up and/or calls plays too predictably, so I have to give him credit when he calls a great game:
-He called a couple of great screens when he correctly guessed that Philly would blitz.
-He opened up with that great no-huddle, zing the ball down the field offense that produced two quick scores.
-He incorporated Kevin Jones a little more, allowing Forte to save up gas for when we needed him most (see below).
-When the offense really started skidding in the second half, he (gasp) MADE ADJUSTMENTS, taking the pressure off Orton and the O-line by calling a couple of well-designed end arounds and reverses, one of which sprung Hester for a huge gain that resulted in a big Gould field goal.
-Even that end-around on the Bears' last offensive play, though it didn't result in anything, showed a significant amount of foresight and creativity (at best we fool the Eagles and pick up a game-clinching first down, at worst we run a couple of precious extra seconds off the clock).

Just a masterfully-called game. No, I have no idea where it came from, or whether he'll follow up with another one next week. We shall see.

2) Matt Forte. The numbers don't necessarily show it, but that third down run at the end of the game, with the Bears backed up, the Eagles pissed off and wanting the ball back, and with over two minutes left, told me everything I needed to know. He bounced off two tackles at the line of scrimmage, juked another defender out of his shoes, and picked up the greatest run of the season so far. And he didn't do any chest-thumping or anything, just handed the ball to the ref and went back to take the next carry. What a fucking player.

3) The O-line. The Eagles were rushing and blitzing the hell out of them, stacking the box, and they still held their own. Orton's sacks were mostly coverage sacks and/or consequent of him holding the ball for too long. On the aforementioned Forte run, Garza had a helluva block, and Kreutz picked up a couple of blocks on Hester's end-around.

4) Kyle Orton. He's still got to learn to get rid of the ball more quickly, especially against a ferocious D like Philly's, but all three of those touchdown throws (the touch throw to Olsen, the tough post throw to Clark, and especially the lead to Hester) were beautiful and more than made up for his miserable third quarter.

5) Speaking of Clark and Olsen, nice to see them each catching TD passes, huh? Clark looked like he kind of wussed out/got held on Orton's second killer INT, but aside from that those dudes did everything asked, including some killer blocks and some tough 5-6 yard catches.

6) I know I mentioned the defense already, but Lance Briggs has to be singled out. That guy was all over the field and absolutely destroyed Buckhalter twice.

7) I'm as surprised as anybody that Hester hasn't taken one back to the house, but he at least appears to be fully recovered based on his TD reception and his kickoff return to midfield. It's only a matter of time.

GREAT GAME! GO BEARS!!
