3-2 might feel like nothing but it counts.
More to come tomorrow but...
...you can bet your ass it'll be about Kyle Orton and his wonderful performance.

#3 Bearman on the Sangamon said . . .Things I learned from the Lions game:
I still LOVE Bears Special Teams
Brian Billick said something interesting, that the Bears Defense was dictating the pace of the Lions' no-huddle offense.
Kevin Jones is a bad mo fo when he wants to be
Devin Hester might pass for a pretty damn good wide out some day.
The Lions have a petulant defense.
Jeff was right, when the Bears make good plays you would think they were at Soldier Field.
I should really take a pre-game shit and not let it bottle up inside of me.
I love Marty Booker, "What the Lester Hayes was that catch?"
Mike Brown still rocks my socks off after all these years *Knock on wood*
Roy Williams is a RAGING cockfag.
Charles Tillman is a golden god.
Baldy interviewed Jon Kitna and asked him if coming off of a bye week was a good time to play the Bears. Kitna crossed his eyes and replied, "It's never a good time to play the Bears."
I think Kyle Orton is the real deal.
Rash is getting better...not dropping easy passes, I mean.
The Lions are just a bad team. They do have a handful of good players...Ernie Simms comes to mind...but these good talents are waisted on the perenial low-ranked Lions. And I feel sorry for the poor wretches drafted by Detroit who have to serve a sentence in football purgatory. Rest in peace Barry Sanders' career.

#6 Joist said . . .I'm probably one of the few White Sox fans on here, so it's safe to say I had a good day. (Not that I'm holding out much hope for that series, but it was fun to get one today.) Wow, what a great performance!
I have Kyle Orton on my fantasy team. I took him with my last pick, basically as a joke and because I needed a backup QB to Peyton Manning. Well, the time came last week to start him, because Manning was on a bye and there weren't really any QBs available. So I took my chances with KO, and he had that crazy half against the Eagles. Sure, he ended up with fewer points than he had at halftime, but he still ended up with a nice number.
So this week, I had a dilemma. Start KO against the hapless Lions, or start Peyton against the somewhat respectable (though winless) Texans? Ultimately, I decided on Manning because I didn't want to jinx Orton. So, you're all welcome.
By the way, the fact that somebody could reasonably debate whether to play Peyton Manning or Kyle Orton? That says it all right there.

14-5.
That would be Kyle Orton's record in his last 19 games as the Bears' starting QB. Any questions?

#9 RandomName said . . .I did not get to see this game, my DVR crashed while watching the first possession and the game inexplicably got erased. Since they only play the top 4 games on NFL Replay I guess I'm hosed. Unless someone knows of a site that archives the game?
Read the NFL Playbook and watched the highlights on the game - looks like a cakewalk where the D lived up to their billing, Forte provided his usual nad early and Kyle Orton is turning into the second incarnation of Good Rex (potentially without the Bad mixed in). That doesn't suck!
Read yesterday's posts - Rancid, I believe it was a poster named Still that did the haikus and Zen koans. I myself miss him. Jdawg, you were hilarious yesterday - every blog probably does need a foil and lil biggzz ain't it.
I will comment that there were still comments yesterday kind of downplaying this overwhelming win - "should have been 30 in the first half" "wish we could have had a shutout" - come on guys! Is there no level of success that still doesn't come with disclaimers?
We all came in saying the Bears needed to win this one big. 34-7? THAT'S BIG!!!
Love that everything's gelling, love that GO is BRINGING it!, love that the line is working, love that Hester's turning into a real receiver, love that KO is the new Good Rex, I even FREAKING LOVE RON TURNER! Yes, I said it! Ron Turner, GREAT JOB!!!
Lastly I love that THE DEFENSE HAS ENTERED THE BUILDING
THEY'RE BACK!!!
BEAR DOWN AMERICA! GREAT WIN!!!!

They beat us twice last year.
well I'm glad we kept playing in the fourth. win win win.

#11 Urlacher FTW said . . .And this is without a top notch O-line. Imagine if Chris Williams is any good and we move St. Clair to LG. This O-line could potentially be very good. Give Matt Forte a little room to run and look out defenses. I see much room for improvement which gives me great hope for this team which I must say feels very good.

#12 Spanish Bear said . . .KO was brilliant. After watching the game twice, I'm convinced Detroit decided to take away the run, and all underneath routes all day. They essentially said If KO can beat us long we will lose. They lost. Big.
My favorite pass was an incompletion; why hit McKie for 4 and get him hit hard and something really bad happen when you need 9; hit RT in the ear. He had time like we haven't seen all year and wow, he's pretty damn good with time.As good as the line did pass blocking they were as bad run blocking. They know the snap count and the few times they ran with Detroit having only 6 in the box they couldn't move their guys to provide run lanes; even KJs big run was a busted play and individual effort. They are going to have to get plays of 3,4 or 5 yards even when they have 8 in - if you catch them with 6 in you should get 6,7, or 8.
Rash did have a big drop, on a flawless pass that was laid in his hands. Situationally, no big deal; still, catch the fn ball or put in Bennett.
Take the fn toss sweeps out of the playbook please, this is the NFL not college. Without any misdirection spreading the backfield and giving away 4 yards of field position is not good. I would rather see a reverse, or a halfback pass than a static toss. Make a hole and run through it.

This is a torrent based web. You have to sign there and later - I think - also in the forum page (http://forums.tenyardtorrents.com/). When somebody uploads the game, you can download it. Hope you find it usefull.
By the way, what a great game yesterday.

#14 Crown said . . .I'd like to urge a little caution here. They beat the Lions. Northwestern would have given the Bears more trouble. I'm optimistic but after the next few games they have a tough uphill battle in November and December.

#15 Ronaldo said . . .Well, the Bears finally closed out on a team they were supposed to beat. Where is Mr. Biggz and PO to tell us that Orton doesn't have the arm to throw the deep ball? Hello? You guys still around to talk some bullshit? I don't think so. Did you guys get to see your boy Rex pouting by himself on the sideline? That shot was priceless. I thought the nicest pass of the game was to Davis along the sideline when Orton threw in between their safety and corner in zone coverage. Perfect ball down the sideline. I loved when one of the commentators said that Orton looks like a guy from the IT department that would come down and fix your computer at work if it was broken, but that he was playing like an efficient veteran QB. The one word when I think about KO is poise.
Hester finally became a legitimate receiver yesterday. He ran nice routs in the middle of the field, he got popped and got up shaking his head like you can't hurt me, and he had a receiving TD.
Olsen down the middle versus a linebacker needs to always be one of KOs first options.
As far as the defensive side of the ball: Isn't it nice not to see the gaping hole in the middle of our D line when Tommie is not out there? Last year, I thought that other teams were consciously running down the middle and exploiting us when Tommie was not in there. This year, with the Israel/DD/Harrison combination, there has been no drop off in performance. Those guys are flat out stopping the run week in and week out. Forte's success running the ball this season is partly the reason why Orton had a breakout game and the WRs had man coverage. I thought Forte improved this week on blocking in pass protection. He was picking up DEs when they got free and was chip blocking well when they came on blitzes. Forte is a veteran and a professional 5 games in to his career. He seems to improve on some aspect of his game every week. Sorry about the long rant. Just excited that's all. Bears.

#16 craig said . . .AK, forget that. The Lions play in the NFC North just like the other teams and we beat the snot out of them, like we were supposed to. I agree that it's still too early to crown our asses, but we came out and took care of biz'ness yesterday and did it convincingly. We dominated them on all sides of the ball, just like a NFC contender would need to.
I'm not sure what KO has to do to prove to the zmac's and Al in WI's of the blog that he's legit. The same statistic that Rex lovers used (W-L record, TDs, long pass potential, etc) is in KO's favor. He wins ballgames, throws TDs, and for you longball enthusiasts he throws and connects deep. And more importantly, he wins ballgames.
Joist, I'm there with you with the White Sox. I wouldn't call it over, we looked pretty convincing last night.
Phil, sucks you weren't able to join us in the revelry. It may be time to re-examine your relationship with one Ron Turner. Either: A) he's gotten better at utilizing his talent B) his players are making him look better than they are or C) both. He still disappoints me at times (see 1st Q play calling with 3rd and 1 play action from Det 10), but he's maximizing his talent. And trusting his QB to make plays.
It was good to see the team having fun out there yesterday.
Da Bears own the NFC North, the other teams just play in it.

#17 NittyGritty34 said . . .I'll tell you what I like about KO (and this is coming from one of his biggest doubters at the beginning of the season)...
It's not that in this impressive run he's shown us something we've never seen; we all remember Rex's September from two years ago.
And it's not that he's consistently been the portrait of a great QB. He's struggled with accuracy at times. He played a terrible half of turnover-filled football last week. And even though he chalked up three and change yesterday it was against maybe the worst defense this league has seen in decades.
But what I like about KO is that, quite simply, he just keeps getting better. Even when he's missing throws badly. Even when he's turning over the ball. Even when he loses tough games. Every week he takes the field and he looks more comfortable, more in control, more confident. I'm not ready to anoint him the savior of Chicago football of course... much too early for that. But I'm excited.
Also, Matt Forte is the People's Champion.

#18 Bill said . . .To all those people who've posted about how the bears should pick up Roy Williams. See post #@ by Bearman; Roy Williams is a raging cockfag and we absolutely don't want him on our team. Every time this guy opens his mouth, Lions fans must just say "oh no, we're getting spanked this week" and Bears fans just smile. Just say no to Roy Williams.
Oh and whoever said, " Kitna crossed his eyes and said, it's never a good time to play the bears" - hilarious. Personally though, how bout benching brick hands Roy Williams instead of Kitna. What a douche.NOW BEAT THE ATL.

#19 Phillip from NYC said . . .Yes - it was the Lions. That's a team the Bears should be able to dominate from start to finish.
And they did. Enough said about that.
The O-line continues to impress. I haven't read this much, but I assume the Lions stacked against the run, so Turner adjusted properly. And Kyle rewarded his confidence.
Turner and Babich had great games again.
Williams has talent and I wonder if his big mouth is a result of frustration? Maybe a good fit for us next year?
Atlanta will be a very good test for us next week. With Cubs out (and congrats to the Sox for avoiding a Chicago 0 for October) the Bears have my full attention and deserve it.

Seconding every single negative thing people have said about Not Our Boy Roy Williams. What a cry-baby selfish douchepuddle.
