This is the kind of shit I like to read about within the team.
Just keep getting a little better each week. If we didn't lose focus against Detroit I expect us to be fucking jazzed to go into the ATL. Stop the Burner, wrecking ball the QB. #23 scores 1 way or another, I am not picky.

I agree with the points made previously. Shut down John Abraham, give Kyle time. Confound Matt Ryan. Concentrate on Turner. Bears win. Tommie Harris shines.
Schedule ahead spells playoffs:
Vikes -beatable
Bye week
Lions - be Lion tamers again
Titans - difficult defense, but beatable
Packers at Lambeau - Let's see, Bears at Lambeau 2007: 27-20, 2006: 26-0, 2005: 24-17, 2004: 24-10 ...
Rams at Edward Jones Dome - Already have shown that the Bears on the road on turf are winners. Rams should be playing Arena.
Vikes in Minnesota - Gus should be injured by then and they'll sign-up Testaverde
Jags - No receivers, beatable
Saints - Bears have Drew Brees's number, always a Chicago win. Repeat of the 2006 NFC Championship game.
Texans - cakewalkNavy and Burnt Orange won't disappoint.

i feel bad for matt ryan. wait, he qb'ed for bc. their "superfans" might be the most annoying people on earth. i hope he gets knocked out cold.

1) actually I thought the team would be better without Moose for the same reason I think the Kitten's would be better without Roy the Whiner.
2) I really like the read for the same reason as Z. Good chemistry and respect - hard to get and powerful stuff.
3) Being paranoid - hope it isn't like the kiss of death such as the cover of Sports Illustrated or being haevy favorite to win the World Series when the playoffs haven't started - who could that be.
Keys - some of them anyway:
1)Yes, hold M Turner down and get in the rookie's face. O Line hold em and D line fold em.
2) Ron Turner stick with the Sun Tzu approach; not Mr Magoo.
3) Babich - attack like Ghengis Khan in a bad mood or my wife with PMS
4) Tommy Harris; play like Tommy Harris not Bonnie Harris. You have something to prove.
5)#22 play like you have been plus another 10%. And KO....well KO we know you'll have a bad game or two sometime. Hold that off for say 6 years or so. Watch his face and how he is standing and you will know.
6) #54 could you trade the sperm count for speed and strength at least for today?
7) Not a key to the game but Lovie, puhleeze could you wipe that Mr Rodgers look off your face and show some real Bear Anger - just once before the season's over?
Just a few.....meanwhile I'll continue to worry a lot.October 12, 2008

"With Muhammad gone, no more finger-pointing occurs... Drake believes not having a football diva demanding the ball is a valuable asset."
Why don't more teams recognize this? It's why I don't think the Cowboys will win this year. Very few teams in the history of the NFL have been very successful when they have a high-profile toxin on their team. The Bears made a lot of good moves over the off-season, but getting rid of Muhammad might have been the best of them.

He was brilliant in the heat of the moment. This loss goes to the inept Bears' coaching staff. Have Lovie/Turner ever heard of play fake with two tries from the "less than 1." And why do you "short kick" it with so little time left after scoring what is apparently the winning touchdown with so few ticks left on the clock. Why not give the Falcons the longest field possible and just cover the damn kick-off? No confidence in your special teams, Lovie? You Bears' fans (and Orton, Forte, Hester, etc.) deserve better than these bozos! I realize I'm not a Bear fan and, therefore, may be considered inappropriate to comment like this. But, am I crazy?

You're right. I don't see them overcoming this. I have never been so embarrassed by a defensive unit as I was today. I don't really care what else happens this season. The only thing left now is to have a middle numbered draft selection next year. Come on guys, even if Chicago makes it to the postseason they'll get knocked out of the Wild Card round so hard it will make the firebombing of Dresden look like a schoolyard fight.
On a brighter note...HOW THE FUCK ABOUT KYLE ORTON! Wow. What a game for him. He is the man...anyone who still supports Rex is just a lost koolaid drinker who doesn't want to face the facts.
WHO THE FUCK KICKS A SQUIB WITH 11 SECONDS LEFT??? I would kick that motherfucker to the 2 yard line...have their return man get tripped up at the 20-25. Fuck that shit. Bears special teams let us down for the first time in a while.

I don't care how fast Norwood is, kick the ball to the endzone.
First off, how much of a chance do they have to return it? Leave a fast guy back at the forty or so.
Secondly, if he does try to return it, it would run the clock almost all the way down.
Finally, say he gets to the thirty or so. They have no chance to win. Kicking it to the fricken 44 gave them a chance for one good play and a field goal.
Wow...

2. They lost it a second time when they squib kicked with 11 ticks left.
3. This is the NFL. Few teams are much better than the teams they beat. They win or lose on the field based on turnovers, coaching decisions, lucky bounces.
4. We could be in trouble if Vasher and Tillman are out for any period of time. Grahm is OK but the other kid, Hamilton, first of all, who the heck is he and second, he reeks.October 12, 2008

Before we all turn into assholes like BEARMAN, lets stop and put this into perspective. We still sit atop the NFC North without having played a divisional game at home. We are in good shape, despite today's result. Secondly, this idiot thinks that a season shouldn't be played unless you win a Super Bowl. Fuck him!

Squib kick to the 40? are you serious? How many kick returns for a TD have their been against the bears. For them to take it to FG range, the clock would be out anyway. I have never understood the squib. Lovie - this one is on you. Also Tommie Harris, maybe you need to spend more time finding God again be he failed you this week. What the fuck.
On that play, all you have to do is make sure they dont get inside the 40. You only have to cover the sidelines. How do you mess that up. You have 10 square yards on each side of the field to cover. Man th efuck up.

#168 Decatur Staleys # 7 said . . .of the 3 games weve given away now (even though their O killed us and our D line didnt get to the QB) Id like to see Atlanta again in the post season to show them how we can really play.
Where were the turnovers, the one we had was given back. The worst thing is how banged up we got in that game. injuries will not bode well.
The coaches better take responsibility for this loss (and the D).
-squib
-mckee?!?
-soft D and secondary and line
-Special teams allowed good runs
-Roddy
-RyanHonestly we should have never had a chance at that comeback, Elam doenst miss that field goal and we dont have time to mount that shit.
The game was lost long before it was lost even though we should have stolen it when given that opportunty.
The vikes barely beat detroit today, and we should be able handle that, but again its going to depend on how hurt we got today.
Pack needs to lose and their is still lots of season left to smooth this out. All we have to do is beat our division and its a 10 win season, they need to learn from these games, I hope they do.
Staying positive Orton made it happen today. In the first half we left too many unmade plays on the field and in the second half didnt do enough changing defensively to adjust to how they were tearing us up, then you look at several major special teams failures (including the fair catch on the punt from Hester when he had plenty of time to run it back, but it gave orton star time).
The offense is looking better every week, making strides (need a little more from that run game though in the first half). \the D seems to be declining, was Tommie Harris a factor today? Not so sure 1 tackle and one fumble recovery and loss constitutes much.
Bears no sacks today...
right now until Jeff does some analysis, Im putting this one on the D, ST and say we got out coached today in critical situations.

#170 Phil from SATX said . . .Here are three decisions that cost us the game:
1. With 36 seconds left in the first half Lovie decided to take the path of least resistance into the locker room down 9-3. (We take a knee) I guess we should have been happy only down by 6??? What, were we waiting them out???
2. Down by two scores, and facing a 4th and goal to go from the 1 Lovie went for it. When time is as valuable as points, you take the points and save the time.
3. With eleven ticks left on the clock, and the need to pin your opponent deep, you squib kick and forfiet an opportunity to do that which you need to do.
I wish M. Brown would have dragged Jenkins back into the field as opposed to knocking him out of bounds....We couldn't hold a lead for 11 seconds.
Orton looked great down the stretch.
October 12, 2008
#171 Decatur Staleys # 7 said . . .Well that fucking sucked. But is it too early for upside discussion? Yes it is, but ima do it anyway.
1) Kyle Orton directed what should have been the game-winning drive, under extreme duress, and moving a lot of parts around at the same time, including extra instructions to our still-learning wideout Hester. That drive could have been the stuff of legends.
2) However, it probably wouldn't have stood up in the annals of time, because frankly, this win/loss is not that important right now. Especially if the Packers lose. We're still tied for division lead, right? Path is going to get easier. Bear with me for a little.
3) Yes Lovie and crew screwed up by pooch kicking that ball. But I think many coaches would have done the same thing. Young Matt Ryan delivered the perfect ball and had a good deal of luck on his side (luck o the Irish, perhaps?) to complete that play with one second left. And frankly we didn't deserve to win that game anyway, Elam should have never missed that FG. Next time the Bears are in that situation, Lovie kicks it deep and trusts his special teams. Live and learn.
4) This loss ensures that the Bears don't get too full of themselves or overestimate their opponents, something that might have happened if that win had stuck. We obviously have problems in the secondary with injuries. I didn't see a big chunk of the middle of the game, will watch it later, but I assume that our pass rush was not getting to Ryan. Since that was defensive Job #1, that's not good.
5) Subset of #4 - this loss should piss the shit out of these guys, who you can see have a LOT of chemistry. Now the D and ST feels like they lost it for Orton. That's not so bad, for this team.
Bottom line, this is a team that may not be quite as good as they think, or as we think, but they still look overall like a team to be reckoned with. We're back to a maximum tw0 game winning streak. But a bunch of home games against beatable opponents are up next.
It sure would help to get Brandon Lloyd back - and doesn't his injury make the Bradley cut seem really stupid? Appreciate the link to the story on Bradley, at least we finally got some understanding about it. But they could have used him today I think.
Keep humble Bears, get even hungrier, time to start a win streak! Matt Ryan proved why he was worth a high first rounder, but I like our QB just fine right now! That last drive gave the Bears something to take away with, something satisfying amidst a heartbreaking loss, something to rally around. I'm thinking we'll be seeing more no huddle going forward - it really seems to suit Kyle and our whole offense.
Chin up Bear fans! Wheels haven't come off - just a disappointing loss, but one that can easily be overcome!

2) IMHO the #1 reason is that you play a soft limpdick cover 2 prevent defense which leaves gobs of distance between the D backs on the side line. I hate prevent defenses.

This loss falls on the defense who let a rookie QB run them up and down the field. The coaching staff should take the hit as well for that kickoff. As soon as they did it I thought that the Falcons just needed one pass to get into field goal range. UB, if you can provide an educated argument as to why KO sucks then let it rip. This has to have been the most gut wrenching loss in a long time. Even the SB loss to the Colts wasn't this painful. What's more disturbing is this: 1) the coaching staff's inability to adjust game plans at the half and 2) this sudden penchant for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Going into this game, you were in first place, the class of the NFC North. With a win today, you could have had the division on a virtual lockdown. No. That was too hard. I forgot. You guys cannot win when you are favored to win a damn ball game. You are a team who should be 6-0. Did you read that...six and fucking o. We call that undefeated. Yet you have one sad ass excuse for a fullback. But worst of all, the defense is overpaid and playing like shit. SHIT you dumbasses. I like the stuff you put in the damn toilet. Who would have known we wouldn't be talking about how bad our QB is? No, we're talking about how much of BAD ASS MOTHER FUCKER he is. He's averaging over 200 yds per game. Our Kyle Orton is 122 for 198 w/ 8TD's and 4INT's for a rating of 87.6. 87.6! A Bears QB hasn't been that good since before my Dad was born! Yet the defense still suck. Except for those two studs in the secondary, Mr. Kevin PAIN and Sir Charles DRILLMAN, this D is sorry. Yeah, you all have had hot flashes that forced you to play well, but getting layed out by a rookie. Ryan is a legit STUD, but he's a ROOKIE! It would be different if he's played a few seasons and has gone to Hawaii a couple of times, but the dude is as green as a high school freshman! I think the offense will do better overall this season. What in the FUCK is up w/ Lovie. I'm black, I can talk about black coaches. And that's just what I'll do. Yeah Lovie's quiet. That works if you're Tony "TD" Dungy. He has an air about himself, you can't disappoint that dude. There's Herm Edwards. That dude is awesome. He's happy everyday he makes it past 9 AM without getting axed. Did you see that dude after KC burned Denver? He acted like a high school freshman who just got his cherry busted by the hottest girl in the school. I mean, that dude should have checked his pants. Even Tomlin has some emotion. Lovie, this dude acts re-fucking-tarded. Plays happen, and he just sits there with the same emotionless face.

While it feels like a seasons worth of emotions have just taken place in a single game, there is plenty of football yet to be played.
Tommie. Just... Wow. haha, you serious?
Kyle dialed up plays to win the game. Did Matt Ryan look better? Yes, but Orton looked pretty damn good too. Hester is looking more and more like a legitimate WR, that catch he made in tonight's game was certainly a big improvement of what we've seen from him. That long inside slant and curl right move by Hester was very well executed.
I thought the playcalling today was pretty good today, giving Kyle an opportunity to make plays BUT AGAIN we saw the '08 signature move of bad calls in the FB dive to McKie, stopped again. I suppose if you call yourself a running team you HAVE to get 1 yard whenever you want, but right now the offensive line isn't run blocking worth a shit in those kinds of situations. I put it on the O-Line to get that yard than the guy callin' it up. If the Bears can continue using ingenuity in their offense they can make it happen when they need, and that's on 3rd downs.
Speaking of 3rd downs, well everybody knows it's a key statistic and today, the Bears defense couldn't get off the field on 3rd down. Now you ask yourself how can a team pick up more than a handful of 3rd and longs against this Bears defense. Well, 3rd and longs give the defense an opportunity to get after the QB, but the Bears did not sack Ryan once today, not once! Granted they played well against the run, but on third down they couldn't stop Ryan, Roddy and the Fucking Falcons. Fuck the Falcons.
It's time to start thinking about how to stop Peterson and showing Bernard Berrian how the defense feels about him leaving for a division rival.
Huge game next week. Huge.
Bear Down America.

#217 UB said . . .Don't blame the damn squib kick, that was the right call. Norwood had already taken one back into FG territory in the game and the Bears wern't gonna give him the opportunity to do it again. Toub made the right call. It woudn't have even crossed your mind if Ryan didn't pull off a miracle.

#219 UB said . . .Shady I understand your point of view. Hard to argue the point but I was begging them not to do it at the time. You Sure Toub made the call???
I was more pissed about the soft "Cover Who?" defense with 6 fucking seconds left. Bump the WR's HARD on the line and you take time out of the play and make a longer pass even if complete useless because time is out.

#222 The Knight of Ownage said . . .I don't see how anyone blames Orton for this. I've doubted him as much as anyone and I'm really impressed with how he played down the stretch with the game on the line. We've never seen that from him before.
This loss, is again about Losie Smith and his sidekick Babich. Feel free not to allow a rookie QB go 6 for 6 on third and plus 9 for the game. Feel free to stop the slant pass or send a blitz.October 13, 2008
#223 Bay Area Bear said . . .We better bring it against Sota. I hate those purple mother fuckers with all my heart. Here's to:
FUCK PETERSON!
FUCK OLD ASS FREROTTE!
AND BURY 'EM TOO!(In case you didn't get the last line, BURY 'EM sounds like BERRIAN.)
Hats off to Matt Ryan. That dude deserved the W, fair and square. We didn't bring our A game, except for one drive. We played sorry-ass ball for 58 fuckin minutes, and we didn't deserve to steal a W from a team like Indy did last wk. Ryan, even though I'm a DIEHARD Bears fan, you sure are somethin' special. I'll be rootin' for ya every Sunday until you play my Navy & Orange Boys again.
GO BEARS!
FUCK THE DIKES, SLACKERS, & PUSSYCATS TOO!October 13, 2008
#224 animal said . . .At least for one game, I'd rather see Orton play well and we lose to a quality team, then Orton suck and we win it on special teams and defense.
Ultimately, I think we can get our defense and special teams back in shape, but the quarterback has always been the big question, and I'm increasingly convinced Orton is a solid answer.
So it's a bummer we lost, but I'm excited about Orton and that makes me excited about the Bears.

#226 animal said . . .Thoughts:
1. No more hand offs to Mckie late in the game at crucial spots up the middle. Kruetz cannot get the push on guys anymore and McKie isn't getting it done getting that yard.
2. T. Harris did not play like he was on a mission from God like he said he was going to.
3. Lovie's inability to trust his special teams unit and manage the clock at the end of the game are most to blame. The decision to squib quick rather than kick it in the end zone or to Norwood to keep the clock running or at worst to give them the ball at their 20 with one play was the game changer. Sorry for the run-on, but I'm pissed.
4. The D-line is second to blame and made Matt Ryan look like Johnny Unitas. They didn't touch the rookie all day.
5. We are still right in the hunt even after the three most demoralizing losses I have ever seen. Can't get much worse and you gotta think we are growing in some ways from these losses.
6. C. Graham was the MVP in the loss. He must have had over 10 tackles again. He was all over the place and I haven't seen him miss a tackle yet.
7. Anyone who blames this loss on Orton should switch hobbies.
8. Vikings next week. We better remember what Peterson did to us last year and how many missed tackles we had trying to take him down. We made him look like Superman. We must fix that.October 13, 2008
Crown, Phil, and Shady, glad to see you make appearances and summarize things. I dont have the energy to break it down, so I appreciate your posts. With all the fucking idiots showing up here lately, it is good to read some intelligent analysis.
