The Division is Yours

Sunday, November 30, 2008 | Jeff

Packers lose.

A win tonight gives you a two-game lead with four games to go.

Play like you know that.

First. And second. Excellent!

I hope I don't regret putting Hester in on my Fantasy roster for today's game.

Also, Thomas Jones just ran for another TD. Hate to open up an old wound, but I wish we had kept him. Jones + Forte = holy cow?

not to be a pisser, but it would be a 1.5 game lead over both the packers and the vikes if the bears win tonight.

still should be enough though with the vikes remaining schedule (at ariz, NYG, ATL) and the packers floundering the last two weeks, plus the fact that the monday night game is in chicago and the bears will be on 10 days rest (!)

Most of you know I'm biased and am real sick of the TJ crap never ending, but here's the point: If we had kept TJ, we would never have drafted Forte. I'm glad it happened the way it did, since it got us Forte.

But all that is details, we're playing the Vikings for the division lead in about 2 hours, let's hope they're psyching themselves into a frenzy right now. Bear Down.

Bears went Full Retard after fucking up their 4th & goal, and then giving up that long TD to Berrian of all people.

Shit, it could be worse if that late hit on Frerotte had been called earlier on 3rd & goal which would have given the Vikings 1st & goal from the 1 probably. I don't care if Frerotte was faking being injured, a ref calls that 9 out of 10 times and it was CLEARLY a late vindictive shove on the QB that had nothing to do with the play.

Best bear performance of the game so far:
1) Hester 65-yard TD

2)Maynard. 3 punts inside in the 15 in the 1st half so far. Much better than 2 weeks ago.

Playing calling, play calling, play calling.

First we do some Forte at QB run thing, followed by run after run. The Vikings help us out, we get to the goal line, and the first thing we do is a -- fade?

Didn't they see what happened when the Queens did this? That was bad, but then we give it to some FB that just got promoted.

Crazy. We need to clean house in the coaching departments.

3 major fuckups by Tillman and the dumbest series on 1st and goal seen in many years tell the story. Not to mention a serious momentum problem to start the second half
Orton not real sharp but 3 drops on what should have been easy catches doesn't help.

This is the kind of game where you find out if you have a franchise QB. I'm thinking we don't. Orton looks awful.

Rash Davis, who used to be clutch, has done a whole lot of dropping passes and missing blocks tonight.

Anyone get the feeling these coaches are making our players WORSE? Not just calling poor games and putting them in tough positions, but actually coaching them into worse players.

Okay, this sucks.

The way I see it, Chicago should finish with a .500 record.

@Minnesota-6-6
Jacksonville-7-6
New Orleans-8-6
Green Bay-8-7
Houston-9-7

Luckily, Minnesota is fucking done. The next four games they play should devastate them. I predict them going 1-3 for the rest of the season, soundly putting them in third place...those rat bastards.

Green Bay is an awful team in their own right, but they are better than us this season. We REALLY suck. We need some major overhauls in the offseason...on the field and in the front office. As awful as they are, I predict they'll win the rest of their games against Houston, Jacksonville, us, and Detroit, making their record 9-7, same as us. Because they will have kicked the everloving shit out of us on two seperate occassions they will take the division.

#93 craig said . . .

So... I hate to be this kind of fan, but...

It's now that the conversation shifts. This was the game. We had to have it. We didn't need a superstar performance from anyone, just good, smart football. We needed it from the defense, and didn't get it. We got blown assignments, poor tackling. We needed it from Orton; instead we got a guy playing like he doesn't want the job next year. We needed it from the coaches, and we got the same horseshit we've gotten all year.

So now our minds begin to drift away from the NFC North division standings, from the remaining schedule, from the calculus of wildcard spots—they drift from the thought of January to the thought of April.

I know you'll say that the Vikes have a tough run ahead of them. I know you'll say it's still possible....

No it's not. Not this team. Not now. I don't even believe they can split the last four.

#103 Phil from SATX said . . .

I'm so incredibly done with this coaching staff. SO. DONE.

Can't you m-f'ers just pack your shit, move out, leave the great city of Chicago that you have now DISGRACED???

Ron Turner IS the worst OC in football. Since I don't watch the other teams that close, I'm taking this on faith. But I'm sure I'm right.

Lovie Smith IS the worst head coach in football. THE WORST. A paper bag is the equivalent of Alcatraz to him - just challenge him to coach his way out of it - he'll still be in that fucking bag. FOR THE REST OF TIME.

I refuse to believe our players are this bad. I believe instead, like Craig, that our coaches are the best in the league at coaching their players DOWN DOWN DOWN.

There are good notes from this game. Most of them include Matt Forte. Was VERY excited about the D in the first quarter. Alas, I doth cheered too much.

Kyle had his first real Bad Kyle game. The wheels just came off. Not willing to give up on him of course, I think he too is coached down like all our players, and he certainly wasn't helped by his so-called receivers (who really shouldn't be called that because they don't RECEIVE shit). But after that first pick, it all went down from there, like he had been saving them up.

Rashied Davis has worn out his welcome. No one can drop that many passes and stay on this team. Not really blaming the AP drop, he just hasn't been playing much, but that there will ensure he plays even less.

I still love Greg Olsen. Just wish we had an OC who knew how to exploit him. Actually RT DOES know, he's shown it, he just refuses to do it, likely because he has money on the game - and NEWS FLASH, he ain't betting on Da Bears.

Why do you suppose after Kyle showed all that early chemistry with B Lloyd, now that same guy gets about two shots per game? Explain that please, RT YOU SHIT. Our only real receiver, and he gets NO LOOKS.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE after you fire all the coaches, get us an OFFENSIVE LINE THAT CAN RUN BLOCK, a FULLBACK THAT CAN RUN BLOCK, and a DEFENSIVE LINE THAT CAN GET TO A QB ALL ON THEIR OWN, WITHOUT THEIR MOMMIES HELPING THEM? That's all I want, Santa, that's it.

A final bitter comment. It's not like we don't have receivers on our team, now and before, that have hands and can catch balls thrown to them. YET WE NEVER EVEN TRIED THEM. Mike Hass, David Ball, MARK BRADLEY, Brandon Rideau, EARL BENNETT.

Never. Even. Tried. Them.

Coaches,

I SAID GOOD DAY!!!!

Be gone you bastards. BE. GONE.

The Packers COULD win out...they should beat the Bears on 12/22 if the Masturbators of the Midway continue their ineptitude. They finish 9-7. Even if the Bears go 3-1 (highly unlikely...2-2/8-8 is more like it), they're toast. The Vikings will self destruct down the stretch...too tough a schedule. The Packers have A chance to win the weakest division in all of sports (not just football, even including the NL West in MLB). Despite my loyalty to them, they lose in the first round. The Bears are done...for a long time...no organization, no strategy, no tactics, no coaches, some good players who (as many on this site have said) are currently being "coached down." The Vikings should be favored, but I don't see them any better than 9-7. Not sure what the tie-breaker would look like...don't have the Division stats handy. Too late on a Sunday night and I'm too old to research. All is know is the Bears look defeated and lifeless. Kick out the coaches and Jerry Angelo, the turd eating weasel.

You say a lot shit like calling the vikes the Vi-QUEENS and a lot of other stuff. Go to any vikes blog and you won't ever see so much unnecessary trash talking. It really doesn't matter in the end though. the point here is that the bears got crushed in Minny and you guys will be at home watching the Vi-KINGS in the playoffs in January.

The schedule still favors the Bears. I have a feeling the Vikes will stumble next week in a trap game at Detroit. The Williams brothers will get suspended. AP will get hurt because that's what he does. Ferotte will melt down because that's what he does. Childress won't be able to stop the free fall because good coaching is just not something he does. The Vikes might not win another game if they lose at Detroit. The question is, can the Bears step up with the opportunity right in front of them? Just plain old not that good on defense.Unless we come up with a stretch run defensively we're done. But every time I think that, I look at the schedul and it gives me hope for some reason.

I'm sorry, I forgot, the Vikes don't have any blogs.
They're still stuck in the first millenium w/ those alpine horns :)

Incredibly insightful, Big Julie. You go along with a lot of what Phil said.

Basically, the core of the team is a group of outstanding players...a laundry list of Pro Bowlers on defense. The problem on both sides of the ball is organization, or the lack thereof.

Sure there were some problems: i.e. the inability of the offensive line to do anything against the Sleezebag Jared Allen and the soon to be exiled Williams', the misque between Tillman and Payne resulting in the 99 yard dumbass play, and Orton's three interceptions.

I hope Big Julie is wrong in that we will not see a good Bears team for some time. Perhaps Bill Cowher will be able to turn it around. He worked miracles with Pittsburgh.

I'm curious as to where Briansong is today after our little debate over the weekend. I hate to say it budy; but I told you so.
Orton was brutal but in reality he wasn't any different then he's been the last several games. The only difference was last night the defenders caught most of the passes he threw right to them.
I'll declare it now, he is not the answer for the Bears long term. I'm glad the Bears weren't stupid enough to give him a long term contract. Kyle Orton is a mediocre backup calibur quarterback. In October he had a nice 3 or 4 game run where he had a hot hand. No that's over, and so is he.
Next offseason several top quarterback prospects will be available, and the Bears need to sign one of them.
I think it's obvious to all now that Lovie Smith's time has come as well. The guy is clueless.
What a fucking disaster.

Kyle Orton was the same as he was all year, the only difference was that the defense could actually catch, KO has been lucky all year, last night his luck ran out.

Next year we will need to make some major changes:
1. Overhaul the whole coaching staff.
2. Draft a big play WR or pick one up in FA.
3. Get a quarterback in FA.
4. Get some solid O-linemen.
5. Get some solid CBs.
6.Get a BIG DT to plug up the hole up the middle.

Now, we still have a chance to make the playoffs. We will have to win out and get some help from detroit, Arizona, Atlanta and New York. Hopefully the vikes go 2-2 in that streatch of games.

Im trying to find ways to stay optimistic, but I cant, it will take a miracle for the Bears to make the playoffs.

This is a .500 team in a .500 division.
The schedule says they still have a great shot at winning the division.
So what?
What playoff team could they beat?
(2,3 4 ...BZZZT!). Time's up! Answer: None.
Time to clean house. This team has under-achieved JUST like the Chargers have and for the same reason: Marshmellow Soft coaching staff.
Mssrs. Smith, Babich, Turner your bus is boarding.

Looking into offseason I think we should pick a top WR (Booker and Lloyd will be out, so let´s use some money in a top WR who hit FA, #2 could be Hester and #3 Bennett). Also, I´ll be glad if we acquire an OL from FA (we should have did it this year). Maybe we can also pick one young OL from other team (I still think we shouldn´t let Kirk Barton go, BTW he´s now on Bengals´roster).

If we can buy only these two players, then on draft day we have to pick 1 DE and 1 OL in day 1. Later we need another WR, and DB´s (S and CB).

As regards to the QB spot, I like Kyle more than Cassell, Anderson, JP Losman or whoever hit FA in 09 (not to mention Alex Smith or QBs like him). We commited so much money on so many underachievers (Harris, Urlacher [he didn´t deserve this year contract], the CB´s,...) so we don´t have enough salary cap space to buy a QB. That´s it (i think :)).

Well this is the 6th Monday I have to wake up this season an ask....why?

6-6 that what we are,(Jim Mora)"Playoff! are you kinding Playoff!!"

3rd time this year the brass ring was there for the taking,an we brushed it aside.

We instead choose to try the tried an true method of backing into the playoffs.

So at Halas Hall today,we wait for the lastest spin on what Qrtr of the season we're in an we going to finish strong..blah,blah,Etc...

So for the fan this week we'll rage for Turner to be pushed off the Sear Tower,Peanut to be drawn an quartered,Matt Forte to have a Gold statue in Grant Park,Lovie to placed in a Iron Maiden,An place Bachich in there with Lovie, also.

But me I seen this dance with the Bears to many time,Up an down season with a sliver of hope for the playoff. So now with the final 4 games I'll watch rage a lil, pray alot,An wait for the final gun of the season an see where the Bears fall.

Orton went 11 for 29 with 3 INT's. Nobody besides Hester and Forte caught more than one passs.

We don't fully know what our players are capable of because our coaching staff is made of clueless arrogant inflexible emotionless zombies sent to suck the life out Bears fans everywhere. Well it won't work. You have us down Care Bears Inc., (My new nickname for the coaching staff. They just walk around and hug eachother and put flowers in eachothers hair and say it will all be ok. Actually I think a bunch of Carebears could actually get tougher with some of our players and get in their face more and show more emotion) but you will never have us out. Soon you will be out.

On a serious note. Do you think 3 completely wasted monkeys on Tequila and Jaggermeister in a room at halftime throwing shit at charts of what adjustments to make could out perform our coaches. I do. I got me money on me monkeys. Go Monkeys Go!

This has become a pathetically sad season to watch and yes I am so stupid and such a Bearimist that I still think we can win the Division. A small creeping part of me hopes we don't so Lovie and his lackeys will be fired. And I hate them for making me think of having to betray my Bears short term because it might make them better long term. But who would old granny McCaskey get anyway? We can only pray it would be Cowher. I can't commit to ever having the Bears lose. I will wholeheartedly cheer them to win everygame no matter what the situation. When the Bears take the field, I have their back. I know no other way to be a fan. Kinda like how Forte plays football. Win and hopefully the rest will take care of itself. How did we go to the SB with this coach? Was Rivera that important?

Still hoping we win out and win the division and win the Super Bowl. It only takes a wake up call and a run at the right time. I still believe it is within our team somewhere. Will they find it in time? I have no idea.

Most former Bears didn't play so good this weekend.

The 2 exceptions:

T. Jones 16 carries 138 yds 2 TD's
2 Rec 21 yards
(and yes with him most likely no Forte so I am over that debacle of a trade)

and as we all saw one

B fucking Berrian 4 Rec 122 yds 1TD (1 blown play = 99 yards and the TD)

then

B. Wade 1 Rec 15 yds

J. Gage 2 Rec 40 yds

RB 2 not be named Bengals
10 carries 17 yards 2 Rec 1 yard

T. Johnson 2 tckls 1 asst 1 sack

B. Griese held clipboard admirably (400 yards? Did that really happen? To a backup and our former 3rd stringer? WTF? Babich I hate you so much!))

M. Bradley calf injury, didn't play. Since the leading KC WR had 2 Rec I'll assume he would have had another good game.
