The Cardinals are disgraceful. You've won the worst division in the history of the league and you mail in the following game in some sort of celebratory fashion?
Looks like we'll need the Falcons and Giants down the stretch.

The Bears really only have themselves to blame at this point though. When you piss away 3 or 4 games, how can it possibly not come back to haunt you.

minnesota will have very difficult games the next two weeks - and might be underdogs in both. so nothing is lost. but this is gross.
tonight...root for the giants...tomorrow, the browns. that would put only the falcons and bucs ahead of us in the standings and mean that we can draw even with the loser of vikings/falcons....

If the Bears win out, they'll be ahead of the Redskins after they fell today, and the Eagles need to lose one of their final three to finish above them.

#34 Prefontaine said . . .John, please don't play the 'no respect' card. I don't think many of us on this site thought the Vikes would get drilled by the Cards. I know I certainly didn't. That said, the Vikings played well today and the Cardinals looked pretty pathetic.
Bears playoff hopes are clinging now, but it isn't over yet. I just hope that the Falcons at least win next week so that the Monday nighter is a bit more meaningful. We'll see what happens.
I hope many of you changed games and started watching that Ravens-Steelers game on cbs. That was a good one between two great defenses.

Both had us with OL in the second round.

if the cowboys lose tonight, they'll be even with the bears. which would leave only the bucs and falcons ahead of us for the wildcard...and possibly philly.

it's a longshot...but the falcons winning in minnesota makes monday night the real deal.

Let me tell you though, wearing a Cardinals jersey and being heckled by vikings fans in a Milwaukee bar is different beast altogether. Especially when I don't care enough about the pathetic cardinals to even have a witty comeback.
I was thinking about trading my cardinals jersey in for an atlanta one, my friend's dad owns a sports apparel store... buuuut I'm also pretty supersticious when it comes to sports, and the whole "wearing the viking's opponent's jersey" thing didn't work out so well for us this time.December 15, 2008

#49 Urlacher FTW said . . .About midway through the Giants pussying out in this game I started realizing that it's better for us to have Giants lose - more chance that they'll have something to play for in the season-ender against the Vikings. They need home field advantage, although truth be told, they are starting to fold like a cheap umbrella in a Chicago highrise plaza gale.
Cards - guess what, I was just kidding, YOU ARE LOSERS!!! Everything to play for and nothing in the furnace. You suck. I hate you forever. Anna, eat that jersey cost, burn that shit in a WS bonfire and cook some brats over it. (Just don't eat those brats because that jersey was made in China out of 100% pure lead).
Hey Boldin, you like playing for those LOSERS??? Why don't you come play in a city where the fans are passionate.
I HATE THE COWBOYS.

#50 zmac said . . .While I would love the Bears to make the playoffs,I think the positives of this season are getting overlooked. We came in needing a no. 1 WR, a QB, a RB, and an O-line. Hester is developing faster than hoped, Forte is the real deal, Orton looks to be a good fit for Chicago and this O, and the line; okay well they need some work but they did a decent job. I mean if our D plays up to their paychecks, we're 11-3 at this point and sittin pretty. I think 9-7 or 10-6 will be a good season for us regardless.

#51 NY Bears Fan said . . .Can someone clear up the tie-breaker scenarios for me?
If the Bears and Vikes both finish 10-6, they finish tied for the division lead and an equal NFC North record of 4-2... what comes next? Record in games against common opponents? I dont know what each teams record is there, but if those are equal then it comes down to the teams records in conference? That means we lose the division to the Vikes correct?
Wildcard is H2H and then conference record correct? If thats the case then we have really no chance at a WC slot anymore correct?
December 15, 2008
#52 NY Bears Fan said . . .Just have to enjoy the last two games irregardless of the outcome for the playoffs. There are only sixteen weekends in the year where I get to enjoy a Bears game and I look forward to everyone of them. In two weeks it will be many months before we see the Bears again. Enjoy it while you can but don't expect them to make the playoffs. They took destiny out of their hands when they handed the games to the Panthers, Falcons and Bucs, all games they should have won. If the would have just have one of those games it would be a very different story. If the Vikings win next Sunday it still means something to beat the Packers on Monday night.

#53 Who's Laughing Now said . . .Don't overlook the Texans at home...I spent the day watching the Red Zone Channel on DirecTV and Andre Johnson looked awesome putting up over 200 yards receiving against a good Titans team.
December 15, 2008
#54 Phil from SATX said . . .Either way, the Packers-Bears will mean something on Monday. If the Vikings lose, there's still a chance that we can win the division. If the Falcons lose, there's still a chance we can take the final wildcard spot away from the Falcons.
December 15, 2008
#55 Willie from Chicago said . . .Two playoff hopes to cling to.
Vikings are not out of the woods yet, not by a long shot, especially with the Giants losing last night. Falcons will put up a good fight, and the Giants should have something to play for - even if they're not playing for home field advantage (which they might be), they've not looked real good in these last two games and know how important it is to be playing well going into the playoffs - they wrote the book on it last year.
I don't believe the Vikings are better than either of their last two opponents - but they're playing at home, and of course they can easily win at least one of them.
Which leaves us with the wildcard. Not going through any scenarios - only clinging to one fact. Last 10-6 team to miss the playoffs was 1991, nearly 20 years ago. That doesn't mean it won't happen to the Bears if they win out, but at least historical odds are on our side.
So we WILL have something to play for on Monday in terms of playoffs, regardless of whether the Falcons put up a similar gutless performance as the LOSERBirds.
PLUS IT'S THE PACK!!!
NUFF SAID!!!
BEAR DOWN!!! (and heal)
December 15, 2008
Phil, the Giants loosing is bad for our chances for this reason; they play Carolina next week and they are tied so the winner of that game will clinch the home field advantage, therefore the Giants will have nothing to play for during the Viking game. Oh well.
