A couple thoughts to start...
1. Thank you, as always, to the city of Chicago and to Rossi's on North State - America's finest dive.
2. The most alarming thing I noticed seeing the team in person is just how open Devin Hester is on almost every single route. Corners are so scared of his ability over the top that they give him an almost-ludicrous 5-7 yard cushion off the line of scrimmage. I walked out of the stadium Thursday night believing he's going to be a Pro Bowler next season.
3. How many plays does Alex Brown have to make in 2008 before Lovie Smith is forced - by one of the elite members of the Chicago sports media - to explain why he sat for most of 2007?
4. Kyle Orton wasn't good but he was an awful lot like Eli Manning used to be: mistakes early and often and brilliant when the game was on the line.
5. You just don't get the feeling Robbie Gould will ever miss a kick to win a game.
And a thought on tomorrow...
This is the most important non-Bears game for the organization in an awful long time. If the Arizona Cardinals can do what they are supposed to do - throw against a porous pass defense - then the Bears can go to sleep Sunday night tied for first place in the division with a clear schedule advantage down the stretch. The Bears gained life, real playoff life, by showing guts for arguably the first time all season. Phil nailed it on Friday...this was a team worth caring about. Now all we need is a little bit of help. Bear down, Chicago Cardinals.

#4 shonbear said . . .And thus begins the comical emplosion in Dallas. Apparently Jason Witten and David Terrell...*cough*excuse me, Terrell Owens, had to be pulled apart today in a team meeting. Dallas' receivers had personal meetings with the Cowboys offensive coordinator and complained that they weren't getting enough balls thrown their way. What a collection of asshole prima donnas Jerry Jones has gathered for himself in Irving! How 'bout them Cowboys!
On to important things:
I'm still on my post-win high, especially since this was the first time this season that the Bears won two games in a row where one of the teams was NOT Detroit Central High School. Sure, one involved the Shaguars but two wins are two wins.I'm inclined to agree with our illustrious blog author. Watching the Comcast post-game show (the local post-game show, for those not in Illinois) where they interview players as they are exiting the locker room. I have not seen these Bears so pumped up about a victory since Week 1. Honestly. They always are exciting after victories, but there was something else in their demeanor which gave me confidence in their desire for revenge (the blood-thirsty kind) against the hated Packers.
The Bears team that faced the Packers several weeks ago is wholly different than this one. A reconfigured (and successful) defense. A healthy Kyle Orton who is just now beginning to get his game back, as proven with that final drive in regulation and the game-winning drive in overtime. A Danieal Manning who is best kick returner since...Devin Hester. ha.
I don't know if Hester is a Pro Bowler next year. But damn, did he not look like a professional for the first time? Quite impressive.
There are two players on the Chicago Bears offense who are in DESPERATE need of being cut. 1) Jason McKie. 2) Rashied "Oops" Davis. I do not believe I need to explain either to you well informed readers.
Everyone root for Arizona tomorrow, and you may also join me in passively rooting for San Fransisco and Samurai Mike.

#5 wheresolsen? said . . .rash "dk" davis drive killer. it's the first time in awhile they started to look good in a third quarter, they had good plays making two first downs and that would have been their third first down on tht drive. after that Kyle was tentative until he got it corrected to lead the team to ot and the win.
I am looking forward to the GB game.
Go Bears! Go Cardinals!

#7 NittyGritty34 said . . .This is what NEEDS to happen today.
1. We need Arizona to win.
2. We need the Bucs to beat the Falcons.
3. We need the Giants to beat the Cowboys.
4. We need the Redskins and Eagles to LOSE.If ALL of these things happen then we will be tied for the final wild card spot and tied for the division lead.
This is great because Atlanta is playing the Vikings next week to if we are tied for both the division and wild card lead then next weeks game will be a win-win situation.
BEAR DOWN!
ps. Go Cardinals, Giants, Bucs, Browns, and Bengals....and Dolphins lol

#8 Willie from Chicago said . . .Wow. Never posted this early. Must be because theres no Bears game today. How was the atmosphere Jeff? Were people still positive, or was there any doom and gloom vibe? Especially late. Also, I'm sure you heard Cedric Benson's quote, But if you didn't I'll paraphrase for him,
"If I played for Chicago this year, with those holes, I'd probably have 1800 yards by now. I know I'd have 1500 yards."
He was saying this in reference to Forte's amazing rookie year. He also said, that this year was his time, he sat for the first two (what?) and was injured last year (yes but not until after he sucked for about 12 weeks). I'm sure your thoughts are along the lines of "what a douche! I won't waste another breath on that ass.". But, maybe you'd like to comment. or not, either way, Go Cards!

Hester looked good because the Saints secondary had been decimated by injuries and he was playing against second and third stringers. As far as Alex Brown sitting, that was Babich thinking whats his name was the second coming of Derrick Thomas. Cmon guys Orton and Eli in the same sentence? Hester in the pro bowl as a receiver? I guess Christmas is the season of hope and miracles.
