YOUR 2008 CHICAGO BEARS

vs.
Jacksonville Kitty Cats

Dear Chicago Bears,

Do not make me sit through a freezing cold Chicago evening in Soldier Field Thursday for a meaningless football game.

Sincerely,

jeff

I've talked myself into the Bears winning the last four. The Jags by many accounts have given up on the season. The Bears have matched up well with the score-at-will-but-don't-stop-anyone Saints for a few years in a row now. If the Bears could beat the Pack at home last year when the Pack was rolling and the Bears looked inept for most of the season, why couldn't they pull it off again this year? And if it boils down to needing to get a win in Houston to make the playoffs, we'll, bring it on.

HONESTYLY! i want the bears to lose all these last four games! why? cause i want Lovie and his dumbass friends(RON TURNER BOB BABICH) out of chicago! i dont want them to make the playoffs...i want those three stooges to be fired and not have any excuse on why they shouldnt be fired! I JUST HATE THESE FUCKING COACHES! THEY FUCKED OUR SEASON!

Im Willing To Sacrifice This Season....SO We Can Get Rid Of these coaches! if we make the playoffs they will probaly keep Ron Turner or Bob Babich but if we dont go...then we have a chance to have Lovie fired and his bff babich and also his GF ron turner....I love my BEARS! WE need a better head coach! WE DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS SHIT----- WE ARE THE BEST FANS OUT THERE!

Rancid, thanks for giving me an idea for my Christmas list - a Bear tie! I need one!

CA Bear Fan, I'm not going to bust on you like I think may be coming to you from other quarters, because I get your sentiment, and share some of it. But you know you will be rooting for the team to win today - you have to. Can't root against the team in the hopes that coaches will be fired, because you know that probably means you'll lose and then lose again as management decides to "stay the course."

I don't want to elevate a college coach for our next coach - too often that doesn't work. I want a veteran. I want Bill Cowher. Guess who else I'd take - Marty Schottenheimer. He knows how to put a team together, and he knows how to coach on game day.

But this is not a conversation for game day - today it's all about WINNING! And for the players, I wouldn't be surprised if we see how much love this team has for its coaches by how hard they play - because they have to be going under the assumption that these last four amount to a referendum on the coaches. So if you love Lovie, you better play your asses off these last four. And given what we've seen out of Lovie, I don't know why these players wouldn't love him and want him to stay.

I do think we'll see a supreme effort out of our boys today.

BEAR DOWN!!!!!!!!!

El Jefe, have a great time at the game! You deserve to be there! I recommend battery-powered socks and lots of schnapps, brandy or bourbon. You know how they say that drinking is the worst thing you can do in cold weather, that it lowers your body temp and everything?

THEY'RE FULL OF SHIT! DRINK HEAVILY! IT'S YOUR ONLY CHANCE!

We all expect a FULL report of your experience after you thaw out, which should happen by at least Thursday. And I mean a DETAILED account.

GO JEFE! GO BEARS!

I think Jeff is going to next week's Thursday game.

I'LL BE AT TODAY'S GAME!

With a on field temp of 15 degrees.

And yes, there will be alcohol consumed, lots and lots of alcohol.

Finally I'll be able to view the ENTIRE field instead of what they only show on TV.

Bear down Tommie!

Bear down Kyle!

Bear down Lovie and

Bear down lucky flask.

You fuckers are making me jealous. I've never been to a bears game at soldier field. I've only seen them live when the played at Seattle in '03 with Chris Chandler and the gang. Nearly pulled that one off. I will be graduating in May with my PhD in mathematics and my wife has promised to get me to Chicago next year for a game as a grad present (hopefully a cold one against the Pack (I want a true soldier field experience and for that it needs to be cold) ) Any pointers on the best way to get cheap tickets for next year?

Anyway, that's neither here nor there. All I care about is seeing the cats get gutted today. I'm wearing my home Butkus jersey today instead of my usual home Payton Jersey because I want to see the defense play angry.

BEAR THE FUCK DOWN, it's now or never.

I pray that they keep thier heads and win a couple at home and come down here to Houston to cap off the season, if they don't make it to the playoffs, I will be extremely pissed! But they are still my team. I do agree with Phil, I think Cowher is the man for this team, he is old school, and he does not take any shit from anyone!!

WTF is up with the offense, they look awful in the second half. Not only does the play calling suck but there are so many issues with execution: dropped passes, poor line play, bad passes. This is the inconsistency that has caused fans headaches all year. Now if the Jags score they are right back in the game.

They WIN.

Wish I felt better about it. The D played pretty well today - full game really. Better rush with some line stunts and blitzes. But Babich - you still suck. The O played fairly well on a few series - like when they needed to score just before the half. Just can't stand it when Turner gets conservative and the Jaxoffs know they can clog the middle and blast the DE's at KO.
KO more good passes than bad ones but not where he was pre-injury. And again - at least 4 drops don't help move the ball. Put Davis on ST only and play Bennett or anybody...anybody...anybody
Gosh I forgot. They tried to throw to B Lyoyd - maybe twice (?)

Well a win is a win I guess. But I remain unimpressed. Even though this is the best defensive effort in a long time. They seemed to just show up and beat a pathetic team that wanted to lose. There were some nice things in todays to be sure but nothing to get too excited about. If they pull out this same effort/game plan against the Saints they will get housed again.
I just watched Head Coach Mike Singletary beat down the Brett Favres and I enjoyed every min of it. The 49ers played with real passion, and I just miss the days when our team did too.

All in all, it was a pretty good win. Ron Turner really needs to learn that he can't call a slowdown game - it just doesn't work for us. If we had an even decent run blocking line, we could go to a run-heavy ToP strategy to bleed out quarters. The problem is, we don't, and we're now in the 13th game of the season and blockhead Ron hasn't figured that out yet.

So he almost made this game interesting, since with the score by the Jags they were within two scores with lots of time left. Fortunately he figured it out in time, and we went back to no-huddle, and got a pretty critical 3 points and a long drive.

I thought the D's effort was excellent, but here again I think we're seeing the difference being more in the personnel utilized than the scheme called. Izzy was an absolutely enormous difference-maker in there. He needs to be in on every play. It seems pretty clear now that Dusty wasn't our best option there, yet it took Dusty's bicep injury and 12 games for the change to be made. Anthony Adams is also better than what we were playing before. No Vasher appears like it may have helped as well.

The only other conclusions I got from that game was that Rashied Davis needs to be gone from our roster and at the very least not out there on offense. He has had as many drops this year as Moose did last year, with far fewer chances. Is it too late now to see what Earl Bennett can do? Is he just not picking up the offense?

But finishing the year with Hester opposite Lloyd, with Marty B I guess playing the third option, is probably the best move. Especially liked more TE action this game.

Every goal line red zone opportunity should include a play like that bullet to Des. It seems like Kyle can do that every time. It works better than the 3 step drop, quick throw deal, which we apparently telegraph because we get way too many balls batted in that situation.

Forte was a beast today, and again, the only great runs for this team come with complicated blocking schemes. Nothing plain vanilla works. I guess you may be able to say the same for D, although this line with Izzy in there, Marcus and Anthony looks like they can be more disruptive, and at least Izzy will put up his paws and do the ever-important pass tipping - now we need to convert more of those into INTs.

Great to see the Pack lose, and the hated Cowboys. Great to see Romo throwing horrible picks to lose games. Sucks about the Vikings eking out that win, but they had a hard enough time with the easiest team on their schedule.

Great win for our guys, now we need to get ready for the Aint's. Hope the weather is even crappier.

WAY TO GO BEARS! ONE DOWN, THREE TO GO!

Hey, I saw one of the highlight reels which FOX and CBS use so liberally and often without explaination. In it I thought I saw Jared Allen laying on a stretcher having his knee examined and looking as though he was in a good deal of agony.

Yet there is absolutely nothing online about it and the Star does not have anything on it either. Anybody know what the hell happened? No Allen, plus no Williams', along with the trifecta of NYGiants, Arizona, and Atlanta and the Bears could bag the division.

How about Green Bay effectively knocking themselves out of contention? Lick 'em in a couple of weeks, I hope.

December 8, 2008

#60 shonbear said . . .

The F'ing Lions had that game. Jarred Allen looked pretty hurt and they had to bring in TJ, but the Lions still couldn't hold it together.

Rash Davis is the most consistent receiver we have, he consistently drops critical passes more than any receiver on the team and he's been doing this all season long. What is the actual stat that shows how many times he alone dropped a catchable pass that stalled a drive by not getting a first down and resulted in a punt.

Kyle's times of innaccuracy wouldn't be so glaring if there wasn't so many dropped passes.

The D looked spectacular for almost the whole game today. This is what I'd like to see the rest of the way. It would make me happy.

Just wish the Ron Turner Train would stop derailing in the second half.

Bring on the Saints (only 4 days yea!) and let's hope the Defense continues doing well and the offense can make longer strides.

The only word I can come up with to sum up the win is "eh".

Go Bears! Go Arizona!!

December 8, 2008

#61 shonbear said . . .

Why does the RT Train always seem to derail in the second half!!

D gets a pass, Hester played better as a receiver today.

How long will it take this organization to bench Rash Davis, I mean really. How many stalled drives does he need to be responsibile for before they finally put someone else in there, this has been going on since the first game of the season and they had tried to sell us the goods that he was the most feared receiver?!? Give me a break!

F'ing Lions, they had that one! Go Arizona!!

Another loss for the Packers! Yea!

Go Bears! Beat the Saints!
