Your 2008 Chicago Bears
with their season on the line...

with the playoffs in their sights...

with redemption knocking at their door...

with a playing-out-the-string Packers team at home...

with everything, and i mean absolutely everything, at stake...

8:00
Matt Forte to start. Marty Booker active. Brandon Jackson not active for the Pack.

8:11
If you listen to Cris Carter, Keyshawn and Steve Young - and I recommend you never do - the Bears shouldn't show up tonight. They stink.

8:38
Hank Jr. hasn't started yet but I'm already pacing my apartment like a raging psychopath. Kick the fucking thing off already.

8:47
Nice defensive start. Tommie showing up early.

8:51
A worthless third down play call is matched by a brilliant Brad Maynard punt. I'm starting to believe that you can gauge the Chicago Bears by how well Maynard kicks the ball.

8:59
Call me crazy but Danieal Manning has been the MVP of this club over the last couple weeks. Every big play seems to involve 38. The offense needs to move the ball here and put some points on the board.

9:04
Hit the ball out of bounds, for Christ. I'll see you at halftime. I'm getting frustrated.

9:13
DANIEAL FUCKING MANNING!

9:22
Ladies and gents, welcome to the Maynard and Manning show.

9:41
Thank God for Danieal Manning tonight. 7-3. One thought. The run is not there so stop wasting first down.

9:55
This team better wake up at halftime. Down 14-3.

9:57
Tony Kornheiser asks, "Where are the Bears?" The question I'm going to ask tomorrow if this doesn't turn around..."Why is he still our coach?"

10:04 HALFTIME REPORT
Utter shit. Again. From a coaching staff that just doesn't get it. They've got 30 minutes. And in those 30 minutes we'll learn everything we need to learn about this team. Two possessions is all they're down when they should be down 50 points. Come out after the half and make it a game. Or shut your mouths till you're back in the postseason.

10:27
Sometimes you need luck. Back in it. 14-10. Can Ron Turner please stop running the ball into the middle of the line for no gain?

10:41
Score here, boys. You got the stop. Now score.

11:03
We are in a game we have no business being in. 17-10. Is it Danieal Manning time?

11:18
I firmly apologize for everything I've said about Kyle Orton. I was wrong. The guy doesn't have it. Let's go defense?

11:32
Tied. C'mon defense. Nothing here. NOTHING!

11:47
Sometimes I step back and laugh and say..."play on." Our ball. Overtime. Win this.

I'd like to know whether game conditions favor either side. Normally I'd be sure that it would help us more than the other team, but this is Green Bay. Ever since last year when Kyle did his thing up in Green Bay I've thought of him as a "mudder." Don't know about Rogers. Also don't know why GB has been imploding of late, but I expect great things tonight.

We have a cold front in San Antonio - while I can't carry my huge-ass dinosaur tube TV outside, I'm thinking at least of leaving all the doors open during the game, as a very small show of props to the tremendous Bear fans who will be braving arctic temps tonight - no pussy domes for Bear fans!!!!

YEAHOWWWWSA!!!!!!!!

(way to go Max, you picked the best game to attend, expect a full report after assuming you're still alive)

Since the schedule came out, everyone has known that this game was going to factor in to the Bears playoff hopes.

It's the Packers in Soldier Field. You CANNOT let them come into this stadium and slap the Bears out of the playoffs. Time to smack some Packers up and down the field!!

BEAR DOWN!

December 22, 2008

#7 Al In WI said . . .

Phil the weather is a huge help to the Bears. The packers are a finesse team that cannot run when it really needs too. They also struggle stopping the run. Their team strength is their wide recievers and spread passing game.
The Bears team weakness is their passing game both Orton and the recieving corp. And of course they have struggled against the pass as well.
More running, less throwing; advantage Bears.

Bears have already jumped to 24% chance of making the playoffs...

http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/nfcstandings.html

Hooray game theory. Personally I think that's wrong though because there's a 50/50 shot winning both upcoming games and a 50/50 shot of the Vikings losing. But, perhaps they take records into account. I would still argue it's 1/8 or 12.5% to win the north. "Any given Sunday" as they say...or Monday...or Saturday...or sometimes Thursday.

Get it down to 25% Bears...get it done.

Manning came to play.

If the Bears can't stop the 10-15 yard throws this game could turn ugly quick. They need to get pressure on Rodgers.

Tommy Harris cost us the 1st half.

1. Couldn't catch Rogers when he flushed him on the 1st drive, therefore No sack, No INT, No intimidation of Rodgers

2. Got in the neutral-zone penalty after Maynard coffin corners GB on their 3, allowing GB to get 1st down on next play.

3. Got STOOD UP TWICE (same as pancaked only vertical), on last GB drive of 1st half, allowing GB a long pass for a 1st down and a long run for a TD.

he really looks hurt dragging that left leg like that.

Lovie Smith has to go!!! Not only has this team been terrible this year, but they do not seem to have any heart!!! I think that is a direct reflection of their coach!! If you recall Bill Cower when he was coaching the Steelers, they may not have been the best every year, but they played with heart every week. Lovie Smith has the same confused look every time something happens either good or bad (more times than not bad.) These Bears have zero heart. It is sad for me to watch every week and hope that they can turn the corner. I have come to the conclusion that they cannot turn this around without some serious changes. The first one is getting a coach in there who can fire the team up. Secondly FIND A FUCKING QUARTERBACK!!! How long has it been since we could sustain a drive? And don't tell me 2006 because the defense led that team to the SuperBowl along with Devon Hester!!!

Well, thank God.......for a minute there, I thought we weren't going to do anything stupid with the game on the line......that was Steve Smith-esque of us, now, wasn't it?

ADRIAN PETERSON... YOU IDIOT!

EDogg, they got Earl Bennet last year. I think he could be a very good reciever, yet he never gets to see the field. I agree with you about drafting a QB, and this years class should be FULL of them.

This one looks like it's over, because of that silly kick and the dumb penalty by AP...

Hey, a dumb penalty at crunch time... sound familiar?

December 23, 2008

#127 Jimbo said . . .

It's over...a crunch play and you rush your front four only?

Does anyone remember what we did to Peyton Manning in the season opener? We blitzed the crap out of him and it worked...Please FIRE the coaches and bring is some folks with FIRE in their bellies...

Perhaps we can hire a Monkey and he can fling turds at it and call the plays that way...mihgt be better than this crap.

Vikings or Bears, this division is pretty pathetic. None of these teams are good enough to come in 3rd in the nfc east

It's so sad and frustrating when watching my favorite team is consistently the worst experience of the week.

#130 EDogg23 said . . .

ZMac you are very right. How can he not see the field at all? It is not like they have Jerry Rice, Steve Largent and Michael Irvin out there. I truly believe they are in love with the run and think it will get them somewhere!!! They have not progressed with the times. They are a 20th century team trying to play in the 21st century!! I have been a fan all of my life, but I am tired of seeing the same thing every season.

By the way. I fucking love Matt Forte.

OH Gould will make it.

Only bummer is I lost my fantasy game by 3 points... it came down to Forte & Chicago D/ST vs Jennings and GB D/ST. I started the night 8 points behind thanks to a brilliant -8 point performance by Kurt Warner.

I finally figured it out...the Bears are like my golf game. On any given day I will drive the ball well or hit my irons or putt well. But I cannot remember a day where I played a round where I put all of it together.

Early in the year when the offense was clicking the defense looked awful and now it is vice versa. At least we can count on special teams to be consistent. Maybe it is directly related to coaching, or its an issue with talent or a little of both.

Winning ugly is still winning but they stay alive and we live another week.

Kyle Orton is now officially hurting the performance of Forte.

Our next best offensive weapon is Devin Hester, who Orton can not connect with because his deep ball travels 35 yards with the wind at his back.

When Kyle is off Forte suffers. If we suffer through a QB, I would rather suffer the one that can spread the field.

Call me crazy, but Rex is our best bet in the playoffs.

Forte accounted for 101 of the 210 yards tonight and he didn't even play a few series.

Wins a win, right?

Jeez, haha, what an emotional roller coaster this game was.

How funny was the 'heads' coming off of Urlacher's head?

Robbie "good as" Gould

KO coming through when it matters most.

Defense playing with pride.

Only 3 catches by WRs. Hester with 2 and Lloyd with 1. And they still won? Wow.

Bears live to see another day, and that makes me a happy guy.

December 23, 2008

#158 shonbear said . . .

Why does it take four quarters of trying to run in between the tackles for Ron Turner to have Forte finally bounce it outside or do a cutback???

It's a win, we sure didn't deserve it, but it's the first time since 2006 that we actually won 3 in a row. Here's to hoping the momentum takes us into a 4th win, regardless of what Minnesota, Dallas or Tampa Bay do this week.

Interestingly, we may know before the second set of games whether we are in or not, or even still have a chance.

As the first games are:

Minnesota
Tampa Bay
Chicago

Second set

Dallas and Phly

Other observations:

- 3rd and long: what the hell

- pooch kick with 3 minutes: what the hell, kick it deep, it was working for us the whole game!

- Adrian Peterson came in for two series- what?

- Adrian Peterson and the horse collar out of bounds: what the hell, peanut disease or what!

- Kyle Orton and interceptions: huh??? What are you thinking?

- Kyle throwing short and making receivers come back when they break away from coverage?? Still Hester should have caught the one that touched his hands and the one that was slightly over his head going 200 mph.

-Receivers: Booker catching the ball against his chest rather than using his hands, What the hell???

COACHING COACHING COACHING.

ARGH, STRESS, STRESS

One more week of this is going to kill me.

Go Bears, Go Giants!

Can someone please call a doctor!

it just makes me sick to my stomach to still hear people talk about starting Rex.....Rex is one of the shittiest qb of all time so pleases stop.........the defensive and offensive cordinators for this team just suck.......the TE and Forte won this game for us. the TE did an awsome job and Forte running the outside won us this game......what frustrated the most about this defense is that on 3rd and long the defense was standing around giving rodgers all the time in the world.....

Yea Rex made some mistakes, but he was young and some qbs always throw their INT's...see Favre. But the dude can throw long and win big games. Dont know if he can succeed in Chicago....fans are just brutal on him....seems tentative afraid tomake a mistake. The team has taken on Lovies personality....NONE, like fuckin zombies....we need help here guys!!
