#14 Phil from SATX said . . .I've only posted here once or twice, but I've been following this blog religiously since I discovered it back in '06. It has been a pleasure to read and be a part of. It has given me a better understanding of the game and kept me in touch with my team even though I live 2,000 miles from my hometown.
I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has made this site what it is.
Jeff, you have created something wonderful. Your commentary, criticism, praise, prose and cheerleading have been a bright spot in my day.
To everyone who posts here regularly, Thank You. You guys are the other half of why this is a great site. Until finding Da' Bears Blog I wandered aimlessly around various sites never really finding knowledgeable information and discussion about our team. This has become the only place I bother with on the 'net for info on Da' Bears.

#15 Albert in Tucson said . . .I assume there will be a time to register, right?
I've been out of pocket lately, too much work and some rare travel. What's happening Bear fans? Are OTAs over? Did we learn anything? I'm out of touch.
Welcome MikeV, good to have you! Here's a question for you non-Midwest living Bear fans. Are you like me - when you see someone sporting Bears regalia, do you walk up to them and engage them in conversation? Talk about Cutler and our new Oline (whatever it is to be)? Or is that just me? One time I walked up to a little family who were both wearing gear, said nothing, and just pulled up my outer shirt to reveal my T shirt with the giant C (love that one) - I'm lucky I wasn't arrested that time.
Jeff, how about this - anywhere we can go to to read one or more of your plays? How about it?
Bear down America!

I sthat too funny or what?! LOL!
On a more serious note...Per Steve Czaban's Fox Sports Radio show: Best offer the Cards got for AB to date has been a #2, including the Bears'. Apparently there are concerns over Boldin's long-term durability (hip issues).

#17 BearsTransplant said . . .Phil in SATX - I usually do the "Approving Nod" if I'm on the street, because it's New York... Ya gotta give some space... But if I see somebody in a bar I'll go up and ask them where they're from, etc. Usually they're tourists, but sometimes not, in which case I ask if they've got a local bar to watch the games at. Then we drink!

#19 Z said . . .Phil in SATX, out here in the Pacific Northwest folks are mostly friendlier that the folks Phil in NYC runs into. I do usually talk to anyone I see in blue and orange. It's absolutely amazing how many Bears fans you run into outside of Chicago. I lived in the SF Bay Area for 20 years before OR and was always running into long time Bears diehards there and everywhere else I've travelled. Just goes to show, once a Bears fan, you are a Bears fan for life.
I have people come over to talk to me all the time when I wear my Bears stuff as well.
Recently my 8 yr. old son accompanied mom to the grocery wearing one of his Bears jerseys, i don't remember if it was his #23 or his #54. In any case a fellow came up and started talking to them about being Bears fans and mentioned that he once played for the Bears with Gayle Sayers and Dick Butkus. His name is Jim Cadile. He played was on the Oline from '62 - '72. Jim has since sent my son autographed pictures of him as pulling guard for Gayle and an autographed football as well. Nice guy.
I get lots of reaction to my t-shirt that simply says "Da Bears". Everybody seems to like that one. Except for one lady last week who asked me what the D A stood for.

#24 Windy City Packer Fan said . . .Nice signing with Tinosamoa. If the staff can get the guys the Bears have signed to produce, you will have a hell of a team in 2009.
I only hope the Pack can match it on the field.
My early Xmas wish is to see the Vikings finish 6-10 with Favre and end up in the basement of the NFC.
Hey, if Favre is only going to play to 'stick it to Ted Thompson (Packers GM), can't I hope he plays only to 'stick it to Favre?'

#29 Max said . . .I like the Pisa signing (it was only a matter of time), but I love the Izzy extension even more.
Not only is Isreal Idonije a beast of a man, but he is faster than a greased gazelle, with turbo engines, driven by an overcaffeinated fighter pilot. Can you guys imagine if he were run blocking for Matt Forte in the backfield? I mean have you seen what he can do for Devin Hester or Daniel Manning in the return game? Can you say... WILDCAT?
Last off season the Chicago Bears lost another special teams ace in Brendon Ayanbadejo to free agency. Maybe they didn't value him as much as the Baltimore Ravens did, but look at the season Hester had without 94 on Dave Toub's special teams unit.
I would think the Bears are going to try Idonije at DE primarily rather than DT in order to take advantage of his quickness, long reach and his ability to tackle extremely well. Third rd. pick Jarron Gilbert played DT in college and showed exceptional quickness and strength up the middle, but the Bears might decide to try him at DE as well, especially if they decide to list Tommie Harris, Marcus Harrison, Anthony Adams, Matt Toeaina and Dusty Dvoracek all on the active roster. Adewale Ogunleye and Mark Anderson are both free agents next year and maybe Jarron could provide some depth.
All in all a great move for the Bears.

#30 Al In WI said . . .Amen Shady. I love the Izzy extension. And I would love to see him as the FB in the wildcat formation in front of a Hester/Forte backfield.
AMAZING!
Pisa is a good pick up. But I am not sure with the addition of Melton and Gilbert that Big Toe is going to make the active roster. It should be a fun training camp to watch
